Chit Chat and All That...

Congrats @Steph1710.

Just changed socks and undies to celebrate with you :)

(I skipped the shower)

When do you start? You get some weeks off first?
Thanks @Exit - I can always rely on you not to wash. :p

At least you changed your socks. I remember living in the van in Italy, and we had this party to go to one night. Anyway, Rob had ran out of clean socks, so instead of doing the normal thing, and handwashing some, he decided to spray them with homemade aftershave that his little brother had made about 12 years ago, which smelt of curry.

I remember laughing so hard. He smelt like a tramp! Honestly, living in the van before it was properly converted, was a grimy experience. :wacky:

But is posting photos/personal information about yourself a good thing? I don't really think so, unless you are ready to show the entire world how vulnerable you are and to take full responsibility for all your actions here, for what you say and what you do.
This is brilliant. I have only just read this post - I somehow missed it.

I have not had any social media for years. I do not have Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or Instagram. I specifically asked my partner when we first got together, never to post anything about me or my life on any of his social media - as well as asking my family not to either.

You may not think it, judging by how I am on this forum, but, I'm a fairly private person in all other areas of my life. In all honesty, I am not sure why I am so open on Tinnitus Talk. Maybe, it's because I felt so vulnerable when my tinnitus first developed, that I needed to share details of my life with the only people I felt truly understood what I was experiencing.

But, I agree. Sharing too much of yourself on media platforms can be troublesome. Once the information is out there, it cannot be withdrawn. This, like you mentioned, creates an easy target for anyone intending to misuse information against someone - as well as having the potential to upset, say, 'lurking' family members, or friends.

Anyway, well put @aura.

Boring...

Short, sweet and fun! :)

Thanks @ZFire :)

What sort of job are you after, out of interest?
I'm a certified payroll professional and an HR benefits specialist, so trying to find something in payroll management or HR. I'm also looking for one that offers much better benefits compared to my previous payroll job. Good quality health insurance, paid time and sick leave, and retirement accounts is what I'm looking for.

Hey @UKBloke, just wanted to explain, you might notice I quite often change the awards I give you and other people on your/their posts.

That's because I'll know initially I like the post, but if I find myself thinking about the post later again at any point, I often start deliberating on how much of it I agreed with, or what the real reason was I liked it in the first place.

For example, I just changed my award on your last post in the Tinnitus News thread from agree to winner, because, no offense to @Ed209, but he wrote an entire essay in an attempt to "own you" over the internet, and you shut his butt down in three lines.

@UKBloke's got that wisdom thing going on.

Massive respect.

I find that ever since Russia attacked Ukraine my tinnitus has bothered me even less. As I do doom scrolling in Twitter my tinnitus can be super loud but the bothersomeness is very low. Worrying about Russian invasion, seeing blown up houses, killed children and burned soldiers is unpleasant but at the same time it makes my tinnitus to seem like a least of my worries.

I am not sure this is the right thread to share this.
You can share anything you like here, it's fine. No worries, you are most welcome here.

I'm sure my fellow tinnitus loonies would agree.

I'm the same, no matter how hard I try, I could muster only a slight visibility of abs. Diet, ab training exercises... nothing works for me. I'm pretty much sure getting a 6-pack largely depends on one's genetics.
You should have seen my abs 10 years ago when I had ZERO body fat :D The clue is to stop eating! :)
@ZFire, what do you think of @Exit's diet and training program?

Exercise + the Crohn's diet (which is... well actually I don't know what it is... (What do you eat in a day @Exit?) but according to him it's not much (maybe a cream cracker a day?)).

I looked up exercising during fasting, and apparently it's a thing, but I remember when I was younger, I was kind of an anorexic and I liked to exercise without eating for hours. Result was almost fainting a couple of times. Whole room filling up with bright yellow and purple spots kind of thing.

Anyway I plan to do a lot more research into the subject. But the extremely low body fat percentage = amazing abs showing through thing is unarguable. I believe there are people who have attained good abs just from starving themselves and not doing one plank or sit-up...

Agree with @Daniel Lion. Anything goes in this thread. As you can see me and @ZFire have recently turned it into a replica of one those meathead fitness forums, plus some Ukraine/Russia stuff has already been broached here.

However I will just add that, for a while the 2020 US Presidential Election thread was being used as the unofficial thread for that particular topic, but now @buttercake has started the War in Ukraine — Megathread. So any political discussion on the matter should take place there.

That said, I don't think yours was a political comment, but more a tinnitus put in perspective kind of comment, which, I agree would fit here, or on a profile post.

I've lost count on all my fainting...

This year only some room spinning stuff :)

A lot of nose bleed though :D

Years ago when I was fasting I would work out on the third day with no food and eat a good meal later that day. Like protein, veggies and some good fat. Just keep your salts up. I felt great during that time frame. Lots of energy, strength, tree trunk and mood was up.

For @Exit, it seems everything revolves around the abs. I just look at the diet options for people with Crohn's, and those sources of food definitely help in that regard.

I've heard about fasting while working out. It supposedly boosts fat burning, but I believe it's more effective when doing cardio specifically. If you do fast while working out, please drink lots of water!

But remember, if you're looking to get stronger, leaner, or build muscle, you'll need to make sure you're consuming the proper amount of macronutrients (carbs, proteins, fats) within your caloric intake. Now If you're fasting while weight training, that can get kind of tricky. You need to make sure that your eating a sufficient amount of protein or else the body will break down your muscles in order to use protein for fuel. You don't want to be losing muscle.

That's what the fitness experts say. They say if you can reduce your body fat percentage (men) down 10-15%, abs will become visible. There is truth to this, but I think having the well-defined ab look will depend on the individual. That's where I believe genetics plays a role and why some are able to get the 6-pack definition more easily than others. I was able to achieve a 13% body fat percentage at one point. My abs were slightly visible, but it was nowhere near a 6-pack. Getting your body fat down to the single digits is really difficult, and requires a rigid diet plan and consistency.

One other thing, I haven't tried it since it's extreme, but excessive dehydration will make all your muscles much more well-defined and that includes abs. Your veins and arteries will start to stick out more. Pro bodybuilders dehydrate themselves days before their competitions to get the best look possible. Hugh Jackman is known for doing it when filming movies.

I wouldn't recommend though as it's unhealthy and not viable (drink plenty of water always!)

I've never read anything so off the wall as to this body building stuff. Question, does this work make a person more able to manual labour, or is this just all for, "look at me, ain't I one strong person?" Not pointing any fingers, just curious.

What about not in shape warriors with daggers lol.
I'll take whatever at this point...

I'm in the worst shape I've ever been. But, how the hell am I supposed to get fit when I have blockages in my brain which make me want to vomit 24/7.

Three and a half years and counting to get it sorted... yay! Thanks NHS!

Bodybuilding is all about looks, nothing else :)

Don't think they would last long as a lumber guy or mountain hiker :)

Blockages? How so?
I have narrowing of the transverse sinuses which carry the bloody round the brain. Which means I have a constant pressure headache. And, if I try to do anything too physical, I end up with a banging migraine. I am also missing the bone which holds the sigmoid sinus in place - that's the sinus which drains the blood away from the brain.

I am finally on the waiting list for a bone graft to hold the sinus back in position. But, who knows when they will stent the transverse sinus for me. They said they could do it when I spoke to them in January, but they want to trial me on different meds first, which I'm not keen on at all.

Honestly, I'm so ill all the time. I am riddled with health issues. :(

Couldn't this explain your tinnitus @Steph1710?

Damn I'm sorry, that sounds rough. Is this universal healthcare?
