Chit Chat and All That...

Inside the fort Dùn Aengous, this opening is a burial place where 2 small children were discovered, but the skulls were missing. Dated around 900BC.

Beautiful @Elmer B Fuddled.

Your photos of Ireland really give off a peaceful, clean, and fresh vibe.

Hope you left the chainsaw at home!

Stay well Elmer.
Thanks Daniel, the only sound we heard for three days was pheasants, donkeys, and that peaceful cuckoo bird every morning and evening.

Take care my friend.

Yeah, it was "on sale" but still expensive.
Oh yeah, the Mrs. was looking and me I was just following along. Some of those were 200 euro, then we would see 89 euro or two for 160 euro. Must remember when you step off the boat you are instantly in the tourist trap. On our walk we stopped at a pub restaurant for our evening meal. We both ordered beef stew and brown bread, 2 pints of beer. The cost was 46 euros, 16.50 euro for a bowl of stew. Unreal.

Yeah, I remember it being like that. I bought the sweater because this particular one was heavily discounted, and still expensive. I think it was the equivalent to 55 euros of that time (1998!!!)

Forgot to add that the cost of living crisis... and the tourist rip-off too are widespread now in Spain.

Just this morning I was riding my bike along the beach and stopped at a few restaurants to check menus etc... prices are going up and up and up...

A restaurant that Mon-Fri had a menu for 17 euros, now charges 22 euros. Breakfast that was 4 euros, now is 7 euros. Another restaurant that charged 21 euros for menu, now charges 30 euros. Crazy.

And prices keep going up. In August these restaurants will charge a lot more. They also charge more for drinks etc.

It's the same everywhere, wife was out this morning buying food and a few items, 96.00 euro, almost doubled from 2 months back.

But that's cheap!!!

In Spain taxes on gas are different on the islands so people from the Canary Islands pay less.

When the rest of the country, from mainland, hears someone is paying gas at "only" 1,75 euros per litre (which by itself is crazy), we wonder "did he travel in time on his Delorean to get that deal?"...

...and then we find out the miracle land of not-so-expensive petrol stations does not exist. The people quoting lower prices just live on the Canary Islands, under a different tax regime, with taxes less on gas.

It's that time of year again:

Now it's strawberry season! The best time for strawberries.

However, in Spain we have had strawberries for like 2 months maybe... but we do not have very different varieties. I think there are mainly 2 varieties that come from Huelva.

The French have a wider range of strawberries to choose from.

Yea, even though the weather's been quite variable here going from extremely hot to a bit chilly (like today) the strawberries know when it's time to dance and won't let anything get in their way.

We have quite a big variety of pedigree strawberry plants to choose from. Sometimes too many. The ones in my garden, however, are basically wild and very easy to grow. The fruit, which is still nice and sweet, can sometimes be smaller than the average gardener type but it's a very robust plant. It will happily self-seed and take over the entire space if you let it.

Do you grow some stuff? My yield won't feed the five-thousand but what I do get is tasty. The main change I've made this year has been to install some rugged netting because last year the early morning birds were becoming a little too proficient at ambushing the crop!

Had the exact same problem last year. Bloody birds got to the red currents before I had a chance to cover them. Two years ago the birds done the same to the cherries. So, I put a massive cover over the cherry tree. Only thing is, the birds didn't get them, but when I opened the covering, it was full of wasps which were eating them instead! Ahhh! Terrifying!

P.S. loving your profile picture.

P.P.S. how awful has the weather been the past two days. Yesterday, I was properly cold.

Tinnitus is better, hyperacusis is playing up today because I stupidly put my phone to my ear to take a call instead of using loud speaker. It's been 4 hours and my ear is still hurting. What an idiot! (n)

How you doing chunk? X
Damn why you do that lol, I laugh because I do the same dumb crap haha. I'm alright I guess. Tinnitus kinda sharp piercing tone or at least morphing to it. Day wasn't too bad, been kinda aggressive letting sound in like an idiot.

I like your profile pic... reminds me of the good ol days haha.

Well, because it was my dad who was phoning, and I was in the kitchen with the mother-in-law, so didn't want her to hear him say anything obscene things like he does. And it's lucky I didn't have him on speakerphone, because he told me he was in the middle of having a shit lol. :dohanimation:

I thought you were doing a lot better? My bird chirp sound is there occasionally, but it's so very weak that it's not bothersome atm.

Well, I crumbled and listened to music too loud in the car a few days ago. Ears did ring a bit louder than usual afterwards, and they did hurt, but I couldn't help it. I miss driving along listening to some proper metal lol.

Thanks haha! It's actually an ancient monument in England, over 1000 years old. Apparently, the dick used to be smaller, but someone in centuries past, decided to enlarge it. Probably some bloke who saw it and thought - "poor fella. If he's gunna be that exposed, I'll at least give him a worthy sized package."

The image of you uncovering a cherry tree to be confronted by a gang of angry wasps is proper Del Boy

The new profile pic is Bob Moran's artwork. Have you seen his stuff? It's people like him that have kept me sane this past two years.

Anyhow... hope you have a good day. Bit warmer now, unlike yesterday. Central heating came on. In June lol.

Interesting! It must be great to be able to grow your own food :)

I do not grow food myself. I don't have land to plant crops.

Interesting too that the strawberry seems to be a tough plant that also spreads easily.

Glad you're doing better. I am back and forth. Have a spike now because I'm aggressively letting sound in and dropped my son's metal water bottle... doh.

Is it bad I still jam to music with earplugs on while driving? Oops.

As for the big penis, people like to visualize big dongs on everything nowadays haha.

Well that's it. I've finally caved and decided to have my operations done privately. Good buy house savings. So glad we have such a good healthcare system here. Thank you NHS for doing jack shit.
