Me trying to navigate my life

Has anybody watched this btw? The show obviously not me peeing in the night because that would be weird.

I get you!! It's so frustrating unfortunately it seems you have to have a limb literally hanging off for any action even then they will probably say just use glue to stick it back on ha ha.

Have you been to a dental specialist about seeing if it's possible TMJ, if it is that can be normally sorted with a mouth guard if it isn't too bad. The same with the neck trauma I would look into that and explore any avenue you can within your financial means anyway for your TMJ, neck etc because those can be at least treated.

6 months is still so early in terms of T, this shit can take the strongest down to their knees and if it is stress, TMJ etc then when they get treated that should hopefully help with the noise again no guarantees but I know from stories I've read with TMJ, stress that once they were treated the volume went right down and some even went.

We are here so if you ever feel like ranting, talking or just chatting bolloxs to take your mind off it (which I do on the regular) this thread and many others will be happy to listen and chat :)
Hey, thanks. I had about 2.5 months of PT which would help a little - it helped ease the wildest fluctuations. But didn't bring optimal relief and as insurance only covers 10 sessions I'm now just left to do it on my own. Still keeping up, but also still in a lot of pain most of the time. Haven't been to the dentist yet but plan on giving a call soon.

I definitely think stress and anxiety played a part in my case. Basically I had a super mild noise trauma which really wasn't that loud nor long at all (it was literally seconds and a gig at the front row would've been louder lol) and I had no symptoms, not even any pain or discomfort or fullness. Also didn't have any tinnitus until my ears became plugged with wax about 1 week later. Had a major panic attack over this as I'd never had any ear issues besides after flying once. Tinnitus hasn't gone away since.

Just know that it fluctuates a lot, it's usually super quiet in the morning or after I've been sitting still for a while, but it spikes even in complete silence which makes me think pressure or movement of neck/jaw may be behind it, but who knows.

It's a strange beast. And yeah, nothing's ever gotten to me the way this has. :huganimation:

hey @Star64 how is my favourite trouble causing Aussie?? Not causing hell I hope o_O
not me.gif

I have been on my best behavior, I only seem to cause trouble when your around

Glad to hear from you jcb, I hope everything is going ok for you? I was busy for a bit helping home school my granddaughter as schools shut here for a while due to covid. We have been extremely lucky here so far but we have had an increase of cases this week and some areas are going back into a lock down.

I am also still up and down with my other symptoms and my tinnitus is still screeching away, but like us all I am trying my best to get on with life, and I am still hoping for that miracle of silence to return :)

Hope @Labyrinthine and @emmalee and everybody is doing ok? I haven't gone back in the tread because.... well because I'm lazy :)
I am not sure what has happened to emmalee. No activity on her account since February. We have all been worried about her as her avatar was taken down along with her other account details. :dunno: :(

I hope @Labyrinthine is ok, he was going through a rough patch, hugs to all :huganimation:

YES! Mads Mikkleson takes the character and makes it his own. He dosen't just try to copy Anthony Hopkins. He does his own thing, and it works.

Hugh Dancy is great as Will Graham as well. The whole thing is just spectacular.

(Also don't watch this show while hungry. It'll mess with you a bit.)

Cool, I like those type of shows and read the books a while back. Thanks for the tip I Will make sure I don't watch while I've just eaten or am hungry

How are you coping lately man?

The best I can. Tinnitus is fine. Phonophobia is just as bad, and worse some days. Hard to tell if I have/am developing hyperacusis, or if my body is having some Pavalov's dog esque response to noise. I go back and forth with those two possiblities.

Hoping custom plugs will relieve some of the anxiety.

Stress and anxiety make mine go crazy and again I've read where T brought on from stress etc can go away but again as this is so unpredictable I'm always wary of giving out false hope but there is some hope if it has been a contributing factor to yours.

Yeah it could be a combination, did you every get your wax seen to? People always argue about what's a safe noise etc but as I said it's unpredictable and some people's ears are simply more resilient than others this goes for people with T and people without. I would say always protect yourself as much as you can and be wary against sounds but it's needs to be a balance as taking it to the extreme can cause more issues mentally and physically.

I'm no doctor so I'm just going on what I've read but maybe have a X-ray or scan of your neck and spine as it could be to do with that, a misalignment, bad posture.

It's tough this T but i know it doesn't feel like it at the moment and you've said you have other issues but you are still in early days and have a good chance to have a reduction. I know it doesn't help everybody but some people benfit from breathing exercise and meditation obviously it's not a cure but at this time we need to do what we can, you could be one who benefits from it.

Somehow I don't believe you Star o_O

How did that go? I bet they loved you being the teacher haha cake for breakfast, ice cream for lunch...

Thats good to hear well that it hasn't been too bad, hopefully you won't all go back into lockdown. Here has been a joke in terms of our government not having a clue and ballsing everything up each step of the way. The "rules" have been so confusing as well haha  plus don't think a good few people helped themselves as in just carrying on as normal, panic buying etc who knew having the corona would have so many people thinking the cure was toilet paper?? Well you would think it was the way it all got sold out, still baffles me that haha

Sorry to hear that Star, this alone is hard enough but add in more shit to the mix and it can more than unbearable. You are a little fighter though eh, always have a kind word and advice even when you are feeling beyond awful says a lot about your character :)

Aw man sorry to hear that. It's pretty normal having a fear of sound when you have this in fact it's wise in a odd way but the trouble is the further you get into the fear the more issues like photophobia can take hold and add even more stress. It's about balance but what that is I'm still trying to figure out unfortunately haha

The custom plugs will hopefully give you a bit more breathing space so you feel less anxious but just be aware around loud noises. Ha ha I like that analogy about Pavlovs dog, hope you are not though

Do you over protect a lot? Do your ears hurt with certain noises, sounds, feel full etc? I have mild H where it doesn't bother me too much so rarely talk about it, it's very reactive to certain frequencies though.

I put the blame on @aot for me posting these as he posted stupid humour and now I can't help myself because well stupid and silly is my thing

That's not good hope @emmalee is doing ok she was genuinely of the nicest people on here, such a sweet soul. @Labyrinthine same to you man, such a nice guy, this shit just take it out of you. Agree big hugs :huganimation:to all.

No pain, no. Some sounds do make me uncomfortable, like I flinch or leave the room. No actual pain. Just nervousness. Stuff like loud voices and high pitches, and cupboards being slammed. Sometimes my ear (left one usually) clenches up and I can feel a little spasm. I assume that's just my TTTS, though.

I protect everyday, because I have to as I take a bus to work and home. I protect while on the bus, at the bus station, and sometimes at work if I'm feeling anxious.

Recently started protecting against traffic as well because it's starting make my outer ears hot and red. (Again, no pain or burning.)

I personally wouldn't call that overprotecting mate, I do know some will call it that but coming from my own experiences that's all I can offer. I don't use public transport much but I know it can be stupid loud at times. The same with traffic that can even make my ears tingle. It's better to be safe than sorry in my book but the nervousness is the worrying part, you don't want that to lead to complete paranoia then phonophobia.

Have you got much hearing loss?

I don't thinks it's healthy to have ear protection on 24/7 that can lead to anxiety, being nervous of every little sound and is no way to live, I think it can cause hyperacusis as well as the ears become extremely more sensitive to sounds. Our ears are comprised now and we have to be careful around sounds but it's that balance, go with your gut feeling mate, it's only you who knows what your ears can take. Unfortunately accidents can happen so I don't think we can be prepared 100% all the time and permanently worry about each and every sound (you probably know all this anyway haha so preaching to choir as such)

Sorry to waffle on and it probably doesn't make much sense haha basically protect around loud sounds, don't block all sounds out but follow your gut and if you feel uncomfortable leave that situation. That's what I do and I haven't had many spikes at all but again this is just how I deal with protecting my ears mate.

Thanks, JCB. Whatever it is, I just hope it clears up soon.

I have some high frequency hearing loss in my left ear.

what we do in the shadows so stupid but funny
I love this show so much! I'm so sad season 2 is over! Have you checked out the movie!? I also really recommend the wilderpeople. I know a lot of people say Jojo Rabbit is the best, but I love the wilderpeople.

Never watched Hannibal, worth a go?
I've only watched the first season and I thought it was well worth it. I keep meaning to go back and rewatch/finish.
well after the initial laughing stops
I'm one of those people that can't stop laughing once I fart! Especially when my cat is judging me.
I'll have to catch up with She Ra then along with so many others haha
Have fun!! Once the final season completely came out I just couldn't help myself. ;)
glad they are chilled I would be terrified of getting clawed to death if I tried to trim those sharp weapons they have....
That's why I like to get my cats as kittens.:) It's evil to declaw. So you can start scratching post training and nail trimming. Not to mention collar, leash, harness, and so on. Travel too. Though my Cinder cat is sadly the only truly well trained travel cat. Mulan is getting better at travel, but she shines at trail walking on her leash! :X3: Plus, you get trust. Because Cinder has to have miralax—manx have potty problems—so ever day I bottle feed her the miralax. For important reasons. :sour: So many important reasons.

Okay, Okay. I'll stop before I really fall down the crazy cat lady hole.:ROFL:

Me too mate, just keep going the way you are but try and not be scared of every sound which I know is easier said than done.

@Shera

You are my reel mower Yoda. So, my mower emits a very screeching sound, which is not very loud (and nowhere near as uncomfortable as my tinnitus...), but very annoying. Is it to be expected, or did I mess up the settings? I guess it's because the edge of the cutting knife slightly touches the cover.

I have an AL-KO Soft touch 38. It is very, very basic, but I didn't want to invest in a better one before trying it out.

Yeah me too, I loved both seasons and yes I love the film, so funny and stupid. It's better to laugh at things like that I don't care if it's considered "childish" humour if it makes you laugh it makes you laugh farts or not haha.

who knew having cats was so complicated  I thought you just trained it to go potty then they just wreak havoc on your house and rule the roost  they are all beautiful cats and lucky to have such a loving human.
