I need to talk to someone that had the LumoMed treatment. If he treated about 100 people there should be someone that would discuss their results, good or bad.

Saw this article today about LLLT in Nature. Regardless of whether it works for tinnitus/ear issues (I think the jury is still out), there’s no doubt in my mind that its effect across all applications as a whole is not merely placebo.

Great! Very nice! You could also consider a home care system... Konftec or the laser of Wilden... With such a system you can treat your T daily... I think it is also more cost effective...

Ridiculous!! They make use of your situation... Just buy your own system... see other threads about LLLT.

I started a thread about long term use of home care systems like LumoMed, Konftec etc...

Is the home version strong enough to do any good? What is the pricing of the home units and more importantly do they reduce your tinnitus? Are the Wilden lasers way overpriced compared to the Konftec?

The home care systems are indeed weaker. So you have to treat your ears longer than in a treatment center.

After spikes I treat my ears twice a day: in the morning 45 minutes, and also the same time in the evening... Just in bed, relaxed... I bought a new one for about $500,- I will not advocate a brand but I am quite happy with a Konftec... It has some wire issues, you have to strengthen the link between the laser probe and the wire...

A conclusion from another thread is that LLLT only works in the acute stages... It works for me in case of a spike...

I have chronic tinnitus so then it wouldn't help? It looks like you have chronic tinnitus as well. I'm a bit skeptical of LLLT at this point.

I believe the Wilden home lasers sell for about $2500. Looks like they have 2 models, Lux-Spa & Luci-Basic. I do not know their output compared to the professional model.

Some people will sell anything, whether it works or not, for the almighty buck.

It is not completely conclusive (I work as a researcher...). But when you look at all the research combined with all that is mentioned on Tinnitus Talk you could conclude LLLT is not effective in the chronic stage... I also have chronic tinnitus, but every now and then there is another damage done by a loud evening out, and last week I went with ear protection to a discotheque (club)... And when I experience an aggravation I use my Konftec intensely...
I once also had a device from Wilden... It was an early model with only 50 mW... After the device broke down I searched for something else and found the Konftec. I ordered it with two probes (660 and 808 nm). I know the wire is broken of the 808 and could be repaired. But I now use only the 660 nm... You can buy 5 Konftecs for 1 device from Wilden... My decision was not difficult... I also ordered one for my son. He uses it after going out...
You are from the United States so you know how it works... I admit the Konftec site does not look very professional... Fancy colours... But they just deliver good products...

Is the Konftec the same laser as the LumoMed?

You wouldn't think they would be the same otherwise there is a tremendous markup on the LumoMed brand..

Someone told me the LED red lasers won't do anything for tinnitus.
Maybe he meant the type on some flashlights? My cat chases after that kind.

I know very little about the different types of lasers.

That could be. It was a comparison of the home laser to the more powerful LumoMed. I guess I can translate it in paragraphs.

It has no bearing on laser treatments... but a quick read. Silverstein is a pioneer, research him lcj... hell blow your mind. His credentials are amazing as well as his inventions... check him out.

There are flaws in the research conducted by Goodman et al.

      5. Conclusions

No statistically significant effect of LLLT on auditory function was found, as assessed by pure-tone audiometry, speech understanding, and TEOAEs. Additionally, no individual subjects showed any clinically significant change. It remains possible that other methods of LLLT could have an effect on hearing. Further research elucidating the anatomic and physiologic bases for therapeutic effects of LLLT on hearing are needed before further clinical testing is warranted.

It could also be that the lasers were too weak...

The following is stated: Both diodes produced energy levels of 7.5 mW (class IIIb).

A normal power is between 50 and 150 mW

      About the treatment time:
      Step 5 —
The laser was centered on the right external auditory meatus, with the probe held at a distance of approximately 2 inches from the surface of the pinna. The probe was rotated from vertical to horizontal and back continuously for 60 seconds.

      Only one minute....

      A normal treating time is 15 - 45 minutes...

These are two reasons that not much could have been expected.

I called LumoMed in Florida again asking about more referrals on their ear laser therapy. So far they only gave out one phone number. They claim they have tried contacting several people by email with no response so far (except for the one).

I also asked about using only the Luci basic and they said generally people have the more powerful laser therapy done at their clinic and then use the home laser for maintenance.

Great news! I am glad it worked for you! It was fun to talk with you @scotty03874!

Well I just received home treatment laser from Dr. Wilden from Germany. I was surprised a bit, I expected to see it made in Germany, but it says made in China.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much is Dr. Wilden charging for his laser?

I thought they told me $3500 for the Luci Basic. Also most people are treated initially at their clinic with the LumoMed laser. I also talked to @scotty03874 and he seemed pleased with the results. They did not give me any other referrals. I wanted to talk to someone with chronic tinnitus.

If I got decent results (tinnitus reduction) from their LumoMed laser, I would be more than happy to talk to others about my experience.

Perhaps stop... see if you feel better not using the device.

Call the doctor who sold you the device and ask your question.
