TRT'ers literaly argue TRT is some kind of art that needs a high skill ceiling. We also have desperate boomers demanding it "or atleast they say that".

@Contrast, you still have so much to live for so don't do anything silly. I know you're in hell right now, and believe me, I know what that feels like. I wish you had someone to talk to in real life; is there someone you can confide in because you clearly need help? I know what it's like to be in pain 24/7 with screaming ears all day, so I get that you're beyond low, but you'd be surprised how life can be turned around.

You can reinvent yourself, anyone can, even with debilitating health conditions but you'll need help to get you there.

You need love and support and you're just not getting it. I wish I could do more but I'm limited in what I can do over the internet. Please try and seek out people who can give you the help that you desperately need.

It's probably not healthy for you to be constantly reading posts from people who are in distress like this site and other health sites. Try and spend more time animating or doing something creative even if you don't feel like it. In the long run, you will start to feel a difference because psychologically, we start to become more like the people we hang out with the most, and if all you're being exposed to is misery then it's not going to help you.

You're one of the great posters, so I know that everyone wants the best for you. You are loved here so don't ever forget that.

The new health problem I have is actually very rare, and it falls under a net all of unrelated disorders.

I'm just focusing on creativity and dumbshit for now, and I agree not to spend time on the forum. However I probably will be out by the end of the month.

Went to an ENT about my ear pain today. Here's what I learned:

My tinnitus AND ear pain MUST be caused by jaw tension, because noise induced tinnitus ALWAYS shows up as big dip around 4000 Hz on a standard audiogram. And I have "perfect hearing" on a normal audiogram, therefore noise induced tinnitus is ruled out!!

Jaw tension is the leading cause of tinnitus

Tinnitus cannot be caused by headphones. I'll start using them again!!!

Ear pain or tinnitus cannot be caused by nerve damage

The key to making my ear pain better is to take walks, appreciate nature, breathe deeply, and pat myself on the back at the end of the day for 3 good things I did that day wheee :D

My ear pain is caused by fear of sounds, not sounds themselves!!!!

Antidepressants are a great idea for me to try, they can help with my ear pain!!!!

Gee, thanks Doc! I'm going to continue using my speakers and worsen my ear pain since there is no way that "normal" sounds can be more dangerous for a person that already has noise induced tinnitus, I'm so glad there's well informed and non-arrogant docs out there that really know their stuff!

Always shows up at 4 kHz? Seriously? There should be repercussions for practitioners just outright bullshitting patients. It seems like once you have your doctorate you can just bulldoze over anyone you please because you're "more accomplished" and therefore smarter and better informed.

@Contrast now that you know the name to your illness what is it? You mentioned that there is a forum for it. Were you diagnosed with this illness or did you self diagnose?

I was diagnosed with two new things.

If possible try and get a referral to see an Audiologist that specialises in Tinnitus and Hyperacusis treatment. ENT doctors do not treat tinnitus, they treat underlying medical problems within the auditory system that is causing the tinnitus. The reason you have this information by your ENT is becomes he doesn't understand much about tinnitus or hyperacusis.

Hi Michael. I know you mean well with your advice, but from doing extensive research it looks to me like painful hearing has the best chance of recovering spontaneously when sound that causes any discomfort is avoided. Exposure therapy with white noise, pink noise, and etc very often aggravate the condition and even when seemingly successful the underlying cochlear damage is in no way corrected.

I hold two accomplishes in this life that are definitely meaningful
1:
I caught a giant longnose garfish in my State, probably a state record and definitely very rare. (2011)
2: I brought down a ecommerce scam empire (2018-2020)

I guess 3 could include making paramount memes but overall now that my life is coming to an end, I might as well shitpost in solace and reflect upon the life I lived.

Did you get a picture of said Garfish?

Right now I'm in a experimental state of mind debating and postulating rather or not we exist within a panpychist universe or a materalist one, or something inbetween. Questions like "does free will exist" are swarming in my head like a angry beaver. It seems I'll never know the true nature of reality, I'm too much of a brainlet. Yet I don't understand how there are scientist claiming absolute materialism and denying the existence of free will. Most of these big name scientist deny the existence of consciousness free will, because it invokes the anthropomorphic to allow an animal's brain matter to succeed space-time. Free will and the idea of a fixated future can't coexist. It's not a strawman's argument.

HI @MrCrybaby

I would like to return your compliment and say: I know you mean well but I too disagree with your advice and speak from personal experience, having once had very severe and painful hyperacusis that was completely cured in two years wearing white noise generators with counselling. White noise has to be administered correctly, in order to desensitise the oversensitivity to sound caused by an acoustic trauma also known as Noise induced tinnitus. It needs to be treated not left alone otherwise, the affected person will never improve and ultimately be cured of this condition as I am now completely for the passed 22 years.

My advice is based on treatments for tinnitus and hyperacusis in the UK and therefore, I do not know what happens in other countries. Here, a patient with noise induced tinnitus with or without hyperacusis, is referred to Audiology to see, a Hearing Therapist or Audiologist that specialises in Tinnitus and Hyperacusis management and treatment. Depending on which NHS hospital one attends treatments such as: counselling, white noise generators, mindfulness, CBT, TRT (or elements of it) Hearing aids, Relaxation classes, medication are offered.

I was recently in correspondence with someone here in the UK that was diagnosed with painful hyperacusis. He was told by his Audiologist who specialises in hyperacusis treatment, that all of her patients that follow her treatment programme are completely cured of hyperacusis that has resulted from an acoustic trauma/noise induced tinnitus. I am aware there are other types of hyperacusis but I want to make it clear. I am talking about treatment for hyperacusis that was caused by exposure to loud noise.

The Audiologist told him the only patients that do not improve are those that don't follow her treatment programme. She said only one white noise generator is required not two. She explained the brain has one Auditory centre for hearing not two so only one white noise generator is needed. It has to be worn throughout the day and the volume set low. Over time the auditory system is desensitized. The treatment last for 18 months and regular counselling is given. As I am in correspondence with quite a few people affected with tinnitus and hyperacusis, in the UK I have been told similar information.

Michael

PS: It was advice that I was giving based on my experience for tinnitus and hyperacusis in the UK. I do not want to enter into a long drawn out debate about this and therefore, will not be continuing this discussion further.
