Retigabine (Trobalt, Potiga) — General Discussion

@Kyxwz
Same effect here. After 15-20 minutes T goes down, anxiety goes down. It acts like a benzo, but in addition lowers T. I take only 200mg and it lasts 2-3 hours. I take only one every week, so I try going through my day without any pills.

@Poyraz
I got the stuff from Spain. I have friends being there on a regular base. You just walk into pharmacies (perhaps you have to try 2-3) and you will get Trobalt without prescription.

Nevertheless this is no solution on the long run. But on the other hand, a relief now can help.
The same is for benzos. Since they are highly addictive, you should not take on a regular base. But taking one once or twice a week should be no problem. The risk is you take more since you feel the relief. Highly risky.

I have no floaters, but as said, I take it only occasionally.

BTW, did user @attheedgeofscience ever reported back about his Trobalt treatment?
As far as I remember, he took 1200 mg daily for a longer time.

@Martin69
Thank you for the advice. I live in Turkey and I think we have some over here. So I will try to get some.

I can related to benzos since they are the cause of my T. I got my T when I quit cold turkey from clonazepam. I did not know any better and I was unaware of this drug is ototoxic. I wish I had never touch one of those hellish pills.

This is one of things that I really wonder. If you look at the last thread I started the other day we have lots if things in common.

-Ear Crackling
-Ear Fluttering
-Sensation of The Tinnitus(more than sound)
-Ear Floaters(I don't have it though)

I really, really wonder why.
Ear Cracking all the fucking time hahaha

It feels always like I just came back from swimming. I have all of those ear problems. Regular T, Pulsatile T, Ear Crackling, Ear Popping and Fluttering. But I really wonder if Trobalt also can help with those since they all came with the onset of my tinnitus.

Where did you read it doesn't help tinnitus???
by my count there have been more people who have small to no useful effects than people who have seen a tremendous improvement, and people who have seen a tremendous improvement which has been sustained for months after cessation of the drug are fewer still.

That's just my observation from following these threads somewhat loosely over the past couple years. My own experience with Trobalt was too short to base an opinion on.

That is true for just about every tinnitus 'treatment' out there.

Right.

We need a selective Kv channel drug that doesn't have any of the GABA affinity that Trobalt has. I'm personally suspicious that GABA-mediated inhibition has as much to do with Trobalt "working" as the Kv stuff, but that's pure conjecture because we don't have a way of A/B testing it. Maybe in 10 years...

Why is it alwayd in 10 years though?..

Anyways guy. Since my head T got worse and started to keep my awake at night I decided to give Trobalt a try. At this point I do not care about side effects because my intention in suicide got catastrophic. But I have a question. I have been taking mirtazapine for 4 months now. And I'm afraid if it may hinder the effectiveness of Trobalt on my T. I just want to make my hissing head tinnitus go away I don't care about my tonal T.

Mirtazapine is a drug that influences dopamine/norepinephrine/serotonin levels.
It should have no interactions with Trobalt, but then again, Trobalt has not been studied very extensively.

So you might as well go for it. Trobalt is better than suicide, just keep your expectations in check, Trobalt is not a miracle drug as some would have you believe.

Flupirtine? It's still a bit of a shotgun approach but it definitely does not touch GABA.

Now I am on Trobalt. It's the second day, 100 mg three time daily. No effect on T. :(
I will try Trobalt just for 10 days. Max single dose during this period 300 mg (or i will try a shot of 400mg). If work it's dose dependant. For know, on 100 mg x3 nothing. Nothing at all.

Most people on this trial had some effect from 200mg upwards.
100mg did absolutely nothing for me as well.

Anyone knows if trobalt could cause floaters or worsening? I had floaters before trobalt. Now i try it for 10 day but i don't know if for anxiety or other but i notice my floater pretty much. I am scared: friday i will try 400 mg 300 and 200 and after i stop trobalt (200 150 150; 150 150 100 and so until 50mg)

There have been may reports of floaters getting worse on Trobalt, many of them on this thread.
I wouldn't say that it is a common side effect, but it's definitely something that may happen.
As far as I remember from reading this thread, the floaters went away after tapering down.
(for the record I didn't get any floaters while on Trobalt)

Ok thank you... I am waiting friday when i try max dose for a while (400 mg in the morning) then i decrease the dose and stop my trial. For now i am just under 150 mg and no effect on T. Tonight i took 200 mg, tomorrow 200, 200 and 300, then friday 400 300 200 and so)

Pretty sure , unless I just started noticing them because of all the floater talk ?
Its not a huge issue , but this Trobalt stuff is hardcore in any event.

How would trobalt cause actual eye floaters? Or does it just make them more noticeable? Is it visual snow or actual floaters?

Suicide is a passing thought, floaters are permanent as far as I know ?
It has been 4 months for me and since my T keeps getting worse and worse it is not a temporary thing in my mind. I'm just a little bit of coward. Btw, some members said there is already an efficient treatment for floaters?

Floaters aren't permanent if you have laser surgery on them. There are only 3 clinics that perform this in the US though, and I have no clue how many worldwide. It's not even a widely known surgery.

Sorry for the hijack, back to Trobalt...
