South Korean Clinic Treatment (Dr. Minbo Shim)

I am still in correspondence with him , discussing the possibility of receiveing treatment.
Obviously I am concerned about the hi freq 6-8 k and above as well as the fact that my T is way above 10 khz.
At this point I feel like I dont have much to lose , except money and possibly the rest of my hearing :p
I have tried to deal with this for 5 years now and have reached a point where I am pretty much done.

But....making decisions like this when under stress, duress, suffering is not very smart so I am taking my time.
Let's see ,I might become the guinea pig for this .

Please ask him about the October discount. I would rather you save as much money as possible if you were to do this.

Will do , personally , I will probably not wait until October.
How high can you hear RaZaH ? Are your high freq distorted ?

I can hear up to 18 k but starting at 12k it's all distorted and very loud and feels like coming from my head.

My cutoff is at about 14 khz , definite hi frequencies hearing loss .
My T sounds like a wall of freq's above 11khz.
Yeah ok... Personally I'd be ok to lose freq above 12 k if it means no T... They are already kind of fucked up and are horrible to hear I EQ down everything above 14k. Sucks for a music producer though.

So a blog from the clinic ..I see.
Pretty good results for 500hz , not much else happening at the other freq , except for a small bump at 6khz.

Ah it doesn't seems to be the good link. The link I had shows a guy completly deaf (NRM everywhere) and is now between 75 to 85, en though 8K is still NRM.

I have to say, this is my favorite thread. True or not, it seems to be the most hopeful. Especially since they say Tinnitus: Disappear. If tinnitus "disappear" then, I'm in. My impression is that he might be onto something. The same reasons we find it hard to take him seriously may be the same reasons why no one else does (bigger research clinics, the media, etc.). His practice looks dinky, his website is awful (I'm a designer/developer so I'm extra judgmental) and he doesn't put much into self advertising or publicity at all. Now if an article sprung up somewhere in the US for example "Korean doctor claims to cure hearing loss and tinnitus", he will surely be challenged and we'll get the answers we're looking for. Not to mention the desperate people who will flock to his clinic and present their experiences.

I agree with most of your points. I read an article a while ago which pictured Mimbo in the US with American scientists collaborating on hearing regeneration research so I don't think guy is a complete nobody but I need more convincing that his treatment is effective for tinnitus.

@Twitch Agreed. He's not very well-known at all which supports the lack of attention to his clinic. However, if this is in fact a "big deal" the colleagues that he does know (all those dudes in the photos) would be be spreading the word like wildfire and surely it might be a bigger deal by now at least in Korea. I'm kind of mad that I just realized that point as I was trying to be optimistic about this.

Am I reading this correctly. That Korean doctor can cure high frequency hearing loss and 'cure' tinnitus????

@dgray He is making these claims, we all want to believe it but the lack of popularity about his treatment leaves us skeptical. We're all just waiting for someone to here to "go first". Maybe it will be you :D

October gives you enough time to analyze all your options. If this somehow turns out to be bogus, even though I doubt that, it still gives you an opportunity to save money in one way or the other.

He has visited Heller's Lab. One source says that he was not there for anything scientific, but another does. I believe the latter because they mentioned his interest in stem cells.

Yup. Claims to help tinnitus and a bunch of other disorders. Some articles have claimed to significantly fix the noise.

Anyway, what frustrates me the most is that I only got answers about him in regards to the Heller visit. I have not received any replies from the Ministry of Health & Welfare, St. Mary Clinic, or the organizations Shim appears to be a part of. Not knowing Korean really sucks, they probably treat my emails as spam.

@Cal18 : I looked briefly at the website but cannot find cost - does anyone here know cost??
$6,000 per treatment. According to one American source, that is the standard cost for stem cells. Some of his patients have received up to three or four injections. You can save $3,000 if he does another major discount.

I am not surprised that people in Korea would pay that much. After all, Korean families commonly spend THOUSANDS of dollars worth on facial plastic surgery, it is even common for daughters to receive it as a graduation gift.

Thank-you sir. That is not a bad price. If this is valid and it works it is worth it.

Interesting @Artemis2K thank you for keeping up with all the detective work on this. I suppose that's a pretty good sign!
@Artemis2K: thank you for doing this research.

Yall are very much welcome.... one thing you guys could do to help is help me get the attention of Dr. Jong Won Rhie, St. Mary Catholic Hospital/University, the organizations Shim says he's a part of, and perhaps miraculously get Ministry of Health & Welfare to respond.

I know at least Dr. Jong Won is a legitimate person based on my background check and finding him on a YT video from a channel unaffiliated to him. But would he back Dr. Shim?
