  • Supposed to quit my birth control pills but now I'm getting worried it'll make me worse off with t :/ anyone got any knowledge ?
    angelsissi
I quit them a few months ago and can tell you that my tinnitus didn't become louder. It fluctuates as always.
    Shelbylynn
@angelsissi thanks for sharing :) that makes me more comfortable to go ahead and quit, I know it's variable and personal to each persons body. But still helps
WTH? Has anyone heard ring when they move? I feel like I'm getting a higher pitched ring e almost metallic ring when I crouch or move? Etd?
    Steph1710
@Shelbylynn yeah, I've had this from the onset. My T changes with every single movement. I definitely have Etd issues, because I was told by my doctor a while back, before I actually developed T.
    Shelbylynn
It stopped so I'm guessing allergy ENT related. God bodies are so weird
    Shelbylynn
@Steph1710 argh that's frustrating. The only time mine sounded tinny was when I had fluid in my middle ear post ear infection. Nasal rinses and Flonase seem to help my Eustachian a lot. Especially the rinse
Was at a restaurant for 3 hours. They're louder than I remember. I think my phone db reader is off.it was saying 66 and it felt like 75-80
    tracyNYC
After a year of Covid quarantine, etc., I'm having difficulty getting used to "normal" noise and activity levels. It all seems so loud and overwhelming now. Perhaps you are experiencing that, too?
    Shelbylynn
@tracyNYC i think so. When I first developed t everything locked down not too long after. I was able to control my surroundings and now I am thrust back into normal life with its normal volume. I'm still trying to get used to it and not let my anxiety warp my perception.
Why do delayed spikes have to exist, isn't that kind of sick? Anytime we are exposed to loud we have to wonder for weeks

      buttercake

Did you get a delayed spike after your friend's party?
    Shelbylynn
@buttercake so far so good. Haven't noticed it being louder. I know I'm paying attention to it more so that's annoying, but it's suspiciously ok.
My t is same leaving the party but I know it can delay spike, but it's odd to me bc when I got t initially it was from concert. Never left
I went to the party for about 2 hours, snuck away to bathroom as much as I could, and used high fidelity plugs the entire time. Left early
I miss loud social events for once. Is everything really screwed forever? Anyone at least goes to see a movie?
    kingsfan
I feel the same as you do. Things are starting to open back up and I really want to go to Disneyland. Will I ever be able to go again? =/

Hell.. will I ever be able to go on an actual date as well?
    Lurius
I will go to see a movie, definately - but with hearing protection from now on.

I have a friend who does not have tinnitus (he actually has hearing damage) and he said the theater was way too loud, even for him. Also, pro tip, if you ask an attendant to turn the volume down they most likely will
Put the tiniest amount of hydrocortisone in my ear canal to see if it'll help my itchy problem. I keep scratching in my sleep
Changed to more of a pure tone (which I'm not used to) but now it's kinda chopping again. But it seems like it wants to pure. I'm tired
Had to pick up a rental car didn't realize the lot was next to a train station and a train blew its horn while I was getting it outside fml
Freaked myself out cause can't tell if I have a more metallic high noise added to the mix? Like hm has that been there before? T sucks
I'm getting my second shot of moderna tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous both for just feeling sick and also for my tinnitus :/
    Shelbylynn
@Lucifer nope! No change from the first one. I also didn't feel many side effects. Sore arm and a little clammy that night but could have been nerves too. Other than that was 100%
    Shelbylynn
@twa hopefully it goes over well!
    O
i got mine last friday, yesterday was hell, high fever, but today everything is fine. If anything T is lower than before, go figure.
My normal t sound mutes itself for a semi second before fleeting t (high eee) then gradually turns down+ transfers to reg t? So it CAN mute?
    Forever hopeful
My bilateral T does that too. It could be completely quiet and then it will weather and be really loud and then get quiet again and then really loud. It can do it within minutes. It changes constantly. And I have no hearing loss in that air. The air that I have hearing loss and it's a more steady town that never changes
    Forever hopeful
    And it is so annoying..................
    Keith Handy
    Same
anyone else pretend their tinnitus is something in the physical background to fall asleep? I pretend mine is a loud electronic or cicadas
Kinda nervous. Thursday I have my first dental checkup/cleaning appt since getting tinnitus. I think she does manual old school cleaning
The spike in my left ear is trying to steal the show from my right ear, so selfish of it.
    Ilias T
The spikes are the real enemy. We would all be fine with just a minor ring. Not sure if that's your face in your profile, but can we use that beauty to make a cure? It would be 100% effective.
I'm very grateful to everyone on this forum who have made this transition in my life much easier. Sincerely. I was so panicked. Now I cope.
    aot
    So happy for you!
    Shelbylynn
@aot thank you! Of course it's an ongoing process and it's not something that can be definitive. Hope I continue on this way though and others can too
Someone made a lot rip with their car modification. I think sound mods for cars have to be the most annoying thing. It's actually painful.
I took excederine for a headache. T seems louder than usual but I'll just distract myself as much as possible. Been ok lately. Used to it
I dried my roots a little with a blow dryer. Will report back. It averages 70 dB. Is there a way to dry waist length hair in the winter lol
    Kriszti
I have lots of hair, around waist length as well. I blow dry my hair in muffs after trying to dry them thoroughly with towels. #highlife

syringing ears make t worse? I lightly syringed my ear because I have a random, what I believe is a nail polish chip by my ear drum. Yikes
    Bill Bauer
Yes, syringing can cause a permanent spike.
    Shelbylynn
@Bill Bauer yikes. Need to figure out a way to get this thing out or else I'll live with a paint chip in my ear lol. No spike thankfully.
    Shelbylynn
@all to gain ty. I avoid messing with my ears as much as possible now. I sleep with socks on my hands because I involuntarily scratch my ears when I'm asleep :(
    Shelbylynn
Thank you Sarah this definitely does help!
    LilSass
How r u doing these days? I'm 9 mos now with no real improvement. I do get quiet days sometimes. This is hard.
    Shelbylynn
@LilSass I've been doing a lot better with coping with it. The t doesn't change as much as my feelings on it do. Unless I get sick etc. it's so hard. Harder than people unlike us know.
I think I'm gonna be brave and take my blood pressure Meds (lisinopril). So many meds are ototoxic and I can't put my health off any more.
