  • Took some sudafed for congestion. Hope it doesn't spike me. Usually makes things seem louder for a bit but doesn't last more than a day.

Cardiovascular exercise is one of those things where there's really nothing it can't improve; except for viral illnesses (which you should really be resting during) and, I guess, heart attacks... (both during and after).
    Damocles
But yeah, in 2015 I went through a period of never-ending ear infections, and subsequently dropped all my regular cardio-exercise. That was when I noticed I could hardly breathe through my nose anymore.

So blood-flow clearly plays a massive role here.
    Shelbylynn
@Damocles thats interesting, I'm taking up roller skating and I've been exercising more so I'll let you know if it helps, my congestion is mainly allergy so idk how much it'll help. But I was planning on exercising again anyways. Thanks again
Why is unrolling packing tape measuring at like 90db on meter. I either gotta invest in low noise ones or use muffs. Wouldn't have guessed
    Shelbylynn
@Stacken77 I only didn't because I don't want to overprotect and cause myself sensitivies. :) BUT I will say, since I'm sending out packages frequently I may do it more now. I KNOW. 90? it's TAPE. HOW. I'm shocked that a "soft whisper" is labeled as 30.....
    Stacken77
@Shelbylynn Don't worry about "overprotection". We don't have to be exposed to sounds over 80+ dB to have our tolerance under control. If we just spend most of the day without hearing protection indoors, I think we're fine.

No wonder my ears felt sore then after packing some things I sold the other month. :/ And that was with earmuffs.
not really lookin forward to the celebration of NYE just due to the amount of illegal fireworks that get set off above our heads; happy ny
Anyone have a preferred sound level meter? I bought one on Amazon but it's likely some cheap $20 meter so idk the accuracy lol

      buttercake

Does is it need to be calibrated?
    Shelbylynn
@buttercake maybe but I don't see the settings to do that etc. But i tested it next to the app i had and it seemed ta least comparable.
    NYCGuy
Those can help give you some ideas but don't expect them to be very accurate.
moms dog was out of control I had to answer the door she picks him up and stands there while I talk to he visitor while barking in my ear :(
This is the second time I've touched the phone screen with my cheek enabling speakerphone while on regular ear to phone call. WHY APPLE
    Wrfortiscue
Yeah I do speaker now low volume away from me because of this reason
    Shelbylynn
@Wrfortiscue im gonna start doing this now, completing the next step to becoming more like my mother
    Shelbylynn
@Wrfortiscue Oh, I figured out a way to disable the call menu while on an active call so my face doesn't press the speaker button inadvertently anymore. thankfully.
Just discovered one of my guitar strings popped/snapped when I was sleeping. I thought the loud pop was a plastic water bottle. I was out
    Shelbylynn
@kingsfan at the bridge. Probably worn. Also It's winter now and i thought maybe the rapid temp change without me tuning etc may have snapped it.
    Shelbylynn
@Lurius Wow! Not only is that loud but that sounds frightening and dangerous. I mean the shattering glass and all
    Lurius
I didn't get up, but in my mind I was like "WTF WAS THAT?!", however at the time I was on olanzapine so I was pretty drugged and even stuff like that wasn't enough to make me do anything. The fire alam, though....that was something else.
No bc why does the apple iPhone vibrate when I receive a voicemail whilst on the telephone with someone??? Like yr gonna vibrate NOW?
Saw friends of mine who I was 2 worried to tell about my t. One friend told the others and they were so understanding that I cried lol. Hope
    LukeYoung
I've told most of my friends etc, but they always forget, and it's frustrating when they wanna do something that's loud and I have to explain again. People will never understand T until they get it.
    Shelbylynn
@LukeYoung one of my closest friends remembers but I'm glad she still invites me to bars etc because it gives me the chance to at least make the decision and feel included, but yes it's very hard for people to understand until it happens. I warn my friends to protect their hearing
Have any of you used retinol on your face (Retin A, tretinoin , differin- adapalene)? I just put on differin gel and realized it could bad.
I have a spike in only one ear but I can't remember anything particular that would only happen to that side hmmmm
Whoever made ear plugs thank you, I need better ones but at least I have something. Went out to eat and these youthful eateries are crazy
If I get covid-19 am I doomed that my tinnitus will be worse? I have family that suspects their sick and I have had contact with
    Shelbylynn
@MBH if it makes you feel any better I had the vaccine and it didn't change my tinntius :) at all. I'm more afraid of the illness. I'll update if it changes with illness
    Lurius
You're not doomed but Dirk De Ridder told me 106 out of 1000 people with tinnitus gets worsening from covid.
    Shelbylynn
@Lurius decent odds. Maybe I'll get lucky for once
Sometimes my allergies/sinus issues give me a fright cause I can't tell if tingling in my neck/ear is allergy related or t *eyeroll*
Goin to outdoor event tomorrow, bringing all the hearing protection even if I'm just lookin for food and clothes. You never know!
Besides t being awful(understated),I hate the way it provokes my ocd/anxiety tendencies and the way we are encouraged to isolate ourselves
Have any of you had covid and did it make your tinntius worse? Vaccinated or unvaccinated?
    Guywithapug
I have not had covid yet, thankfully! However from everything I have read, it appears some do suffer from tinnitus as a long lasting effect. I don't know if it elevates it in people that already have it though. How have you been? :)
    Shelbylynn
@Guywithapug hmm interesting! May have to research it. I have been good so far thank you! glad to hear you are staying well. :)
Forget horror films there is nothing that triggers my anxiety like a siren blaring. Or a really loud noise. I'm all shaken up. Hard to sleep
normal to be freaked out if exposed to a really loud nosie? I was downtown drinking tea and emergency vehicle had sirens on Amplified it.
    Damocles
    yeah @Shelbylynn, very normal.

Might want to consider wearing hearing protection when you're downtown from now on...
    Shelbylynn
@Damocles i definitely will downtown only bc the way it's set up it makes sirens amplified rather than their normal volume
Weirdly I am not spiking in volume but there is a new quality to the tone/sound. Usually I have cricket/shhh. R ear added a new sound :/
I curate vintage clothes and you'd be surprised @ how loud some thrift and charity shops keep their radios lol. It's like a party???
