  • T decided to migrate to the left ear adding new pitch. Managing changes is annoying and anxiety inducing. Never a dull moment.
    SamRosemary
@BrOKeN_1 Honestly, I feel the same. I felt pretty good/almost habituated before covid and all the new T it came with. Also, anxiety and panic are major things I struggle with. So you're definitely not alone. Have you don't any CBT? I find it's helped my panic disorder a lot.

Anxiety is the devil in the mix of all this. You take that away to a manageable level and dealing with the T is so much easier. It likes to pull the rug out from under you at times just when things are looking up.

@SamRosemary I've played around with CBT but the ADD in me makes it hard to stay focused. I use more sound therapy then anything else.
Just spent the day at Disneyland.. yet I have conflicting emotions. I hate not being able to just enjoy something in its entirety. Oh well!

I went to downtown Disney once. The crowd noise wasn't too bad, but there was some loud music playing out of speakers by the D-land hotel. Fireworks show started while I was there and that made me very nervous. I went into a nearby store for escape. I wore my 26SNR custom earplugs.

I had a big spike afterwords, but I'm not sure if it was Dtown Disney or the really busy revolving sushi bar I went too beforehand that caused the spike. I'm most worried about crowd noise, noise playing from the speakers around the park, parade and show noise, and ride volume. Basically everything I guess.

@kingsfan We never made it to downtown Disney. Is it worth it with the kiddos. Going down to Anaheim from Northern Utah takes some planning and we may have missed alot. My first time there. We may go agian in a couple years. The Financial aspects of Disney can be daunting if your not fully committed.
Why is it so hard to accept that this is my life so I can just move on?
    Lurius
Because it's not natural. You know in your mind and soul that it's not meant to be like this. Because you have a memory that reminds you of a time when it was better. It's something innately machine-like about the tinnitus noise that makes it so difficult to be creative. It's like your soul is on a ball and chain.

@BrOKeN_1 I just had to accept it in order to move on. My life will never be what it once was, but we all change as we get older and progress through life.
Spiking like Crazy Today! Finding it hard to focus on my normal distractions. Going to take a long hot shower and try not to overthink it.

    Nice line.

Have been meaning to play this game. I've been kind of burnt out on Ubisoft games lately, but biomutant did always interest me.
    BrOKeN_1
@ZFire Its actually alot better the expected. Kinda silly but I need a lighter entertainment these days. And it's something new.
I miss going prone and sniping some kids on pubg. Dipping my feet into different gaming genre's that don't require headphones has been fun.
Me: Good Morning! T: Eeee! Me: No. NOT you. Everyone but you! T: Eeeeee! Me: Calm down. Don't get upset! You too. T: Ee!

Haha, I thought I was the only crazy person that had long chats with me T. Sometimes when I'm in a good mood I'm nice to it, but mostly I'm telling it to behave
@Ngo13 your profile pic makes me miss my cockatiels. If I can find it I'll post a pic in the pictures thread
    Damocles
If you like this, then take a look at @Leila's profile pic.

    They're not cockatiels, they're Christmas-tiels!

@BrOKeN_1 would love to see it! I love them and miss mine too. Although he was loud, he whistled a few tunes. I hope to be able to have them again someday.
Moderate noise trauma yesterday. Compressed air line blew apart inches from face. Small spike.. seems manageable so far. \(^-^)/
Oh goodie.. a second anniversary trophy. Not sure that's something to be proud or happy about. Thanks TT.
Ever present and all consuming... still got some fight in me tho. Keeping hyperacusis at bay is my top priority for current T management.
Sometimes you just have to stand in front of a running faucet for five minutes to get your head right and move forward.

    Agreed

@Joe Cuber possibly.. I clench my teeth alot if I don't have something to chew on. (Gum) Stems from decades of smoking and chewing tobacco I think. Even tho I haven't partaken in almost ten years.
@SmallRonnie I would also recommend Vicks Pure Zzzs. Melatonin+ chamomile and lavender. Also has valerian root. Working great for me.
    SmallRonnie
Sometimes, I drink Chamomile tea. Valerian root causes withdrawals if taken for too long so I avoid it but use rarely.
    SmallRonnie
The 2mg melatonin in vicks pure z is a high dose. I take 0.3mg which is meant to work better apparently.
    BrOKeN_1
I'm down from 5mg to 2mg on the melatonin so... one step at a time for this guy.
Whelp. Its officially been 2 years. No signs of stopping. This is my life now. At least I'm getting some sleep and baseline seems stable. :》

You've survived 2 years. See it as this. A lot of people having no clue about this and don't even want to talk about it. You did it with six kids and a loud job. Warrior. Keep on and soon you will find relief. As i said, after 3 years T was not a problem anymore, at least for me. Believe in this as hard as you can. Why? Because we simply having no other choice right now.
    BrOKeN_1
@makeyourownluck no ill effects so far since crash. T is a bit more intrusive lately but that's a common affair at this point. Up and Down. With me it all about getting distracted asap upon waking. Keeping my mind busy = sanity.
    makeyourownluck
Glad your ok @BrOKeN_1. Crazy how T was your first though though! I've been in a crash where the airbags have deployed, hopefully I never will be.
Son inducted into the National Honor Society. Couldn't wait for the ceremony to end. Ringing years. Tinnitus sucks
    BrOKeN_1
Congrats to your son! Thats no small achievement these days. I have a gaggle of kids so there's no end to the excitement. Just do your best.
    Forever hopeful
@BrOKeN_1 I have only 2. How many do you have of you don't mind me asking?

I hope you feeling better after your accident.
    BrOKeN_1
Tried kratom a few days ago. Felt great. T was loud af! Didn't care. Next day felt sick to stomach & T was annoying af agian. So maybe no 2k
Feeling exhausted... staying distracted is a full time job. Not to mention the full time job. Time to meditate.
    MindOverMatter
It sure takes a strong person to balance this out @BrOKeN_1 Hope you are doing okay - circumstances given.
    BrOKeN_1
Just discovered a cool meditation type game on the Oculus Quest called Tripp. Try it if you get the chance. Really Cool.
@tracyNYC hey girl. Haven't seen ya for awhile. Hope your doing ok these days.
    tracyNYC
Hi @BrOKeN_1 - Thank you for reaching out. I've been lurking lately :) My T is still a beast, and I try to stay positive. Not always easy, right?! Hope you are doing ok too.
@BrOKeN_1 big respect for managing to navigate through this with 6 kids.
    BrOKeN_1
Thank You. They drive me crazy. But anchor me as well. Helps when fighting through the worst of times with this condition.
    makeyourownluck
I found it tough with just one and I didn't have the additional pressure of working. Hope this is just a bump in the road for you.
    Wrfortiscue
6 kids??? Damn I can barely handle one
Lol. Did great last night. Then stayed awake too long and drank too much caffine. One bad decision after another. When will I learn?
    Steph1710
The thing to learn is that in life we repeatedly make the same mistakes. :)
