    In Loving Memory of Allan1967

I didn’t know Allan but felt so much for him whenever he’d post about his spikes. Seeing this news breaks my heart and made me cry. I completely understand how desperate this horrible condition can make someone feel. I pray that real treatments come soon because it is desperately needed...

Tinnitus Started Recently — I Need to Know How Others Are Living with This?

That gives me a bit of hope since I have perfect speech discrimination. My hearing loss is minimal as well and has been stable for years but the tinnitus keeps getting worse anyway. Any thoughts as to why?

Can One 0.25 mg Pill of Xanax Cause a Tinnitus Spike?

My tinnitus seems louder after taking that dose of Xanax but then again I’m lying down in bed at the time and my tinnitus is ALWAYS louder when I’m lying down. It’s not louder the next day, however. My problem is that lately I get what I call rebound anxiety when the Xanax wears off. Never...

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

That would be AMAZING! Tinnitus has seriously impacted my life. Now I'm dealing with other health issues too and it's all just too much for me. I'm highly sensitive and life the past seven months has been completely miserable to the point I've wished for death. :(

    Muscle Relaxers & TTTS

Dr. Nagler, I would love to hear your thoughts on muscle relaxers in relation to our ears. Background: I've been having bad muscle pain in my neck and shoulders and was prescribed Flexeril. I took one pill which helped me sleep. I took another the following evening but it didn't help me sleep...

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

I have such mixed feelings on this topic. On one hand it seems Lenire launched too soon as I don't have much confidence it works all that well. (That being said, if it was available in the US I'd still try it out because what other option is there?) On the other hand, Susan Shore is taking way...

    Strange Hearing Distortion/Dysacusis?

Yes! I thought I was the only one. If I'm right next to the source there is little to no distortion but is it's further away the distortion is much more noticeable. I hate it more than the tinnitus.

TMJ Jaw Pain Making Hyperacusis Worse

Yes. It's called a CBCT conescan that TMD specialists do that looks at your entire head including your TMJ.

Please Help Me Figure This Out; Feeling Overwhelmed

Thank you for the kind words. It just seems it keeps intensifying every day and I feel powerless to stop it. The reactive piece is the hardest to deal with since it makes it impossible to mask. I keep telling myself this isn't permanent in the hopes I'm right and it will get better at some point.

My niece just suggested that today after I told her my symptoms. I have a ton of tension in my body but mostly my head so I'm guessing it's contributing.

Please Help Me Figure This Out; Feeling Overwhelmed

There's something wrong but no one can seem to help me! Over the course of a few months the once quiet and stable non-reactive tinnitus in my right ear has not only gotten louder, but has picked up new tones. Around the same time I started having these head pains (not headaches) while trying...

Tinnitus Is All in Your Mind

I agree. When I first got tinnitus it was quite low so I never really thought about. Didn't make it go away, though. Now that it's gotten louder, more reactive, etc. it's all I think about and it sucks. I want my old tinnitus back!

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Yes, it is amazing, but definitely a disappointment for us longer term sufferers. It's easy to become a bit jaded thinking "look at this person who didn't even have this affliction for 6 months and is now healed and I've been suffering for years". It's just hard and it wears on a person. And...

    Hello from Another Wellbutrin/Bupropion Victim

I'm sorry you're dealing with that. I don't trust doctors when it comes to side effects. And the thing that infuriates me the most is despite telling your doctor what happened, no one will document it to see if there's a trend. This is the biggest frustration I have with the medical community at...

Anybody Get Tinnitus Spikes from Yoga?

I've had balance issues (not vertigo or dizziness but more leaning to one side or the other) over the years but only one instance of hearing loss (quite mild) and tinnitus, but I've always feared it could be Menieres even though none of the four ENTs I've seen has ever suggested it even after...

Mobile Tinnitus Apps (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc.)

I've been enjoying keeping the window open at night to listen to the frogs and crickets as that is the most calming sound for me to sleep with. Fans and white noise aggravate my tinnitus these days unlike when I first got it. Unfortunately some days it's too hot outside to do this and I have to...

Please Help Me Figure This Out; Feeling Overwhelmed

Thanks for the info. I will check the videos out. I would be interested in the self acupuncture too if you want to message me. How does one detoxify? It was wood stripper and stain I was breathing in which caused a sinus infection and headaches. Those are now gone but the stress of the...

Please Help Me Figure This Out; Feeling Overwhelmed

What's weird is none of my coworkers seemed affected by the chemicals. Everyone could smell them and were breathing them in over the course of three months, yet I'm the only one who got ill. I had to quit when my employer refused to do the work elsewhere (they were stripping and re staining...

Please Help Me Figure This Out; Feeling Overwhelmed

Yea, that's something I didn't do when I first got T, but back then it didn't occur to me it could get worse and it never did. Now I do use ear protection for the vacuum, and go into a different room when my husband uses any loud kitchen appliances (or does the vacuuming). I don't wear any...

    A Success Story — And a Warning

I'm glad you got better. So you have hearing loss, but without tinnitus? I mean, other than the tinnitus you're saying went away? That's very interesting. How did you obtain the hearing loss and when? I really wish mine would go away, but it's been two years and it's actually gotten worse even...

Please Help Me Figure This Out; Feeling Overwhelmed

I appreciate the responses, but it feels like maybe I wasn't clear enough - I've had tinnitus for two years now. It's only since April it's been an issue. I was already habituated before the change in how it's been acting. I'm merely trying to piece together the reason for the dramatic change in...

I apologize for the length of this but I'm hoping with enough information someone can help me out at I'm feeling very hopeless at the moment. I originally got tinnitus in my right year in July 2017. Initially it was so quiet I really only noticed it at night so I didn’t actually see a doctor...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Good question. I was exposed to some chemicals at my (now former) workplace and things just started going haywire in my body from there. Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Ah yes, thank you! And while the other person above said this could be totally coincidental, I hardly think so for someone who has had it for as long as @kelpiemsp. Obviously it's always possible, but very unlikely. So that's encouraging, even if it's only a sample size of one.

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

I would assume so, simply because I recall one of the users here state their tinnitus didn't go away until two months AFTER treatment, and I believe they used their device for longer than three months. So, I'm trying to stay positive about it working, but I sure wish they had more testimonials...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Kind of discouraging that of all their participants there's only one where it went completely away. Maybe that's because they only had the device for 12 weeks though? Had they continued even longer maybe it would eventually disappear altogether? I'm getting antsy about getting my hands on one...

Tinnitus Is the Worst Problem I've Ever Encountered!

I think it depends on WHAT they are looking for whether contrast is needed. And please read up on the contrast they use. Not to scare you, but I haven't heard good things about the stuff. My ENT blew off my concern about that though. I am growing to hate ENTs because they really don't help all...

Ears Feel Clogged and Sensitive to Noises When Eating Cheese

I've been getting the ear clogged feeling and sensitivity, but not when I eat cheese since sadly my doctor has forbidden for me to eat (along with gluten). Tinnitus Is the Worst Problem I've Ever Encountered!

I just saw an ENT this morning, in fact, the third one I've seen in as many months, but didn't really get anywhere as he said my tinnitus will never go away. He also said he has loud tinnitus in both ears for the past 15 years and just ignores it. I love how flippant people can be about your...

    Sleeping with Reactive Tinnitus?

I don't currently have a hearing aid, and was told back in 2017 that they wouldn't help me due to the low level of hearing loss I have. Told the same thing earlier this year by two ENTs who evaluated my hearing and said that it hasn't changed/deteriorated since 2017. Just mild high frequency...

    Sleeping with Reactive Tinnitus?

I've seen you saying this a lot, and it does make sense to me logically. But also, I've noticed that the quieter it is when I'm sleeping, the more my T calms down and stays lower the next day too. I'm not saying complete silence, as I have the window open and can hear crickets and frogs, but...

Singulair & Methylprednisolone for Tinnitus Aggravated by ETD?

New to this site, and looking for advice. I've had relatively soft tinnitus in my right ear since August 2017. At that time I learned I developed hearing loss in the high frequencies in that ear. I was told there was nothing I could do and to go on my way. Until two weeks ago I managed ok...
