No Hope Getting Out of Tinnitus: It's Gotten Worse as I'm Tapering Off Prednisolone

I am tapering off Prednisone too and today I woke up with a loud spike, but maybe it’s because I slept in a cold environment and woke up with clogged ears and nose. What do you guys think?

Tinnitus Spike from Diclofenac/Voltaren Gel (Used it on My Back)

Some days ago I took Diclofenac gel for three days on my back. Now I read it is ototoxic. These last few days my tinnitus has been crazy and I fear it is due to the Diclofenac. I am afraid I damaged my already frail hearing forever. Has someone experienced the same with Voltaren /...

Earache, Muffled Hearing, and Feeling of Liquid Leaking After Earwax Removal

Two days ago I went to my ENT in order to further investigate my hearing loss. I had and audiogram and as I expected: Normal hearing in left ear. Severe hearing loss in right ear. I also had my earwax removed manually (no suction or syringing) but I noticed he poked my eardrums several times...

Can Tinnitus ACTUALLY Drive You CRAZY?

Three weeks ago, after years of habituation, my tinnitus started bothering me again. I don't know what caused the spike. Maybe it's due to the cold weather, maybe it's a consequence of using earbuds for video conference. Fact is that my low pitched hissing, which was basically bearable, turned...

Can Tinnitus ACTUALLY Drive You CRAZY?

I have a hissing sound, and I managed it well until last week. Now I am in panic and I feel it is louder BUT I don't know if it's just my anxiety that makes me perceive it louder or what.

    Suicidal

I don't know if it's louder only because I focus on it more or if it's a spike. Fact is that I used to ignore it and didn't care until last week. Now I am in panic.

    Suicidal

I managed to habituate to my tinnitus pretty well since last week. I heard it at night but didn't care at all. However now I am focusing on the hissing again, and I am legit feeling it louder, and I am afraid to go suicidal. Is this a spike or just my anxiety?

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

Dude I'm not saying your T didn't spike, I'm saying there's basic anxiety and there's acute anxiety. From what I've read both You and I are facing acute anxiety at the moment, caused by spikes in our T, due to loud noises expsoure. But when anxiety kicks in everything changes in a bad way, our T...

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

I'm sure anxiety is gonna make you perceive it louder, I mean, sometimes when I'm not battling a spike I completely forget about it but when I'm concerned about a spike nothing but my T seems to exist and it seems to overwhelm everything
  46. Matt9

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

Sure man, I already gave up that job! Too muc loud noises! Let's just hope our spikes will subside soon! By the way, how loud is your T during this spike?
  47. Matt9

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

Yeah dude I was working at a wedding party and couldn't wear earplugs (needed to hear the costumers speaking). Music was around 90 db so I guess I'm kinda f***ed up this time!
  48. Matt9

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

Yes, as I wrote in my posts I got a huge spike due to the long exposure (10hrs) to loud music one week ago, and now I am kinda freaked out cause I never stayed in a noisy enviroment for so long
  49. Matt9

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

Well, I took benzos and ssris for long periods of time treating my OCD. I never developed an addiction but taking it scares me as it's like admitting my T is unbearable and that makes me panic even more
  50. Matt9

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

What if I take benzos to relax? is it risky too?
  51. Matt9

What Are the Phases of Spikes?

Either it will settle down or you will habituate again, hearing loss can be difficult to manage at first but eventually you'll get used to it, don't worry! Also H can recover pretty well

What Are the Phases of Spikes?

To be honest, all that you have done doesn't sounds so bad, I mean, based on my past experiences I think your spike will subside. Also, keep in mind that anxiety can make you hear your T much more. I don't know how loud caloric test and fire alarm were but the other things sound pretty harmless
  55. Matt9

What Are the Phases of Spikes?

Same here Michael, got a spike from 10 hours exposure to loud music while working (earplugs were forbidden for me). It's been a week and I start to panic and thinking this time it will never settle down
  56. Matt9

What Are the Phases of Spikes?

In the end I took 16 mg of medrol, wich is way more strong than prednisone. I'm familiar with side effects and I know it could make me feel like a s**t but I wanted to try. Also today I'm starting taking 1800 mg of NAC/die and vitamin D as well.
  59. Matt9

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

Well, in this case I guess I should see my ENT or take medrol asap. I'm so scared and freaked out at the moment!

    Loud Wedding, Big Spike

Woah! How loud was that sound? Was it a gunshot? Well, tbh I can't say for sure how loud the music was, my ears didn't hurt and I didn't feel like I needed to walk away from the noise, but sure the music was loud and probably I couldn't hear what other people said to me from an average...
