Chit Chat and All That...

Except for me, because I have already explored the shit out of my surrounding area. So, I was really damn bored. Only so many times I can walk that same path. :bored:
Boredom from the same path, signifies that you're walking with your head down. Look at it as the path to your well being, and take a closer look at the surroundings.

When we walk the same path we never see the outside of the winding trail.

Happy holidays tinnitus daughter,
Elmer

This is the breakfast I used to have during my holidays in Scotland more than ten years ago (the day I took the photo beans and mushrooms were missing). I could go through the day without having lunch and being full of energy!

Awarded this a "winner", just for the size of the black pudding, @Maria Francesca.

I mean just look at that thing.

That is the Megalodon of black puddings!
That said, mine was from Fortnum & Mason (╭ರᴥ•́)

Beautiful place! Sorry for my ignorance, from Wikipedia it seems like a more luxury version of Harrods?

I had a clash of cultures with Black pudding and Haggis, coming from "cornetto e cappuccino" standard breakfast. Since then, I introduced non-sweet food into my breakfast which is now sugar free.

Yeah, I'm not surprised at your confusion @Maria Francesca, the Wikipedia entry is incredibly misleading.

While technically, yes, Fortnum & Mason is a department store, it is a department store that specialises in luxury food items.

Harrods on the other hand, is a luxury department store that specialises in... well pretty much everything/anything that can be paired with the adjective "luxury" (including food).

Honestly @Maria Francesca, I'll eat coagulated pig's blood, but I drawn the line at eating a sheep that has basically eaten itself. Stay away from the haggis, lassie!

I hear you.

Although I've got to be honest, I miss the days when this was my go-to starter fuel for the day:

I have two options for breakfast:

- Toasts with butter and honey
- Toasts with olive oil and tomato

+ Green tea

Pretty standard haha... I admire people who can be creative at breakfast and treat it properly, like if it was dinner, and have many different options :beeranimation:

Has anyone heard from @Jazzer? He seems to have gone quiet.
Hi buddy.

Thank you for thinking of me.

I've been wondering if there is anything at all I can add to all of the subjective experience and advice posted across this forum.

What, if anything, might help or encourage members to move forward.

Of course I struggle with this condition so much myself. The main gadget in my toolbox is my ability to meditate to a deep level when for 30/40 minutes a day, I can become 'semi-conscious' and totally unaware of my tinnitus.

I look forward to this practice each morning, knowing that I will be untroubled and at peace.

I have no wish to discourage anybody, but having had 'T' now for over 30 years, and very severely for more than 7 years it is my belief that this condition is irreversible. I do not follow research news. Why would I. As yet, the entire body of scientific research, countless books , articles, and millions of words have led nowhere.

We have to look at coping methods, i.e. acceptance. Three years ago one of my lovely daughters recommended Eckhart Tolle's book - "The Power of Now."

(Incidentally, she is a school teacher who developed tinnitus subsequent to supervising a very noisy dinner hall at her school every day.)

At first I found the practice of 'staying present,' by interrupting the constant narrative of past history, very difficult, but it developed well.

I purchased other books by him, and watched many teaching videos.

I have always studied psychology but never really spent much time in philosophy.

After I lost Sylvie, my daughter encouraged me to join a philosophy school in Croydon, South London. I am getting deeper into this study, and think there is much help us 'sufferers' can gain from these wise masters.

Perhaps I should start a thread on here by posting a selection of quotes from these great thinkers.

Sorry this reply is so long Elmer.

Bet you wished you'd never asked buddy?

I am reading the Netherlands went again into lockdown due to the Omicron COVID-19 variant...

There are tons of people who are getting COVID-19 lately. I know a few people who are sick at home, with fever etc

It's weird that after so many vaccines everyone is getting sick again.

I'm watching Spiderman 3. The movie has a bit of a hyperacusic ending

Maybe there will be a movie on Havana Syndrome some day..
I'm guessing it's the Venom scenes that make the hyperacusis tingle a bit. The part where Spider-Man keeps banging those metal pipes make me cringe... I never liked that part to begin with.

Incidentally, I lost one good friend on here, largely, I believe, because our views on Eckhart Tolle were diametrically opposed.

His ideas don't sit well with everybody.

I asked because of caring and friendship. We have, all of us, been through two years of hell not including tinnitus, loss of loved ones, a virus that will not end.

So as you know we all here think of you and that you are alright.

Have happy and loved holidays,
Elmer

Our neighbours down 1 house away, she wasn't feeling well, tested positive for the virus. Now last night a nephew of ours tested positive but he wouldn't get the vaccine.

This new variant has no mercy who it strikes.

I am getting fond of that Venom creature.

I was not very familiar with superheros and the Marvel world, but yesterday the Venom film was on TV... would be interesting to know who created this "hyperacusic" creature and what's the real story behind it hahaha.

I wonder why people subscribe to Netflix and the like, when blockbuster films are aired on public TV just 2 or 3 years before they are released, and there is content, series, movies etc everywhere for free...

I was hiking a new trail one morning, and stopped to read a mountain lion warning sign that had been posted, when I man stopped and told me he hikes the trail every morning and has never encountered one. I was thinking, the "SAME TRAIL? EVERY DAY. THE SAME TRAIL?" I need more spice in my life than that.

Considering your luck, @kingsfan, and the fact that you (like the rest of us) won the genetic lottery, giving you prized ownership of a crazy as f*ck auditory nervous system; I'd say you have a pretty good chance of encountering a mountain lion on your next hike up that trail.

Went to Barcelona today to do some errands. This has to be the noisiest city in Europe, motorbikes everywhere and a ton of noise. Awful. 20 minutes on the street and my tinnitus is through the roof, plus pressure, distortion, all the hyperacusis and tinnitus pack of symptoms... ugghh.

I always grab a pocket full of rocks at the beginning of the trail and keep a knife and bear spray on me, because I do hike alone in the early morning.

Okay hot shot, sounds like you've got it all covered.

So where's the shark spray in case you fall into a ravine that leads to the ocean? ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)

I have lived in Italy, where many people use motorbikes, and Barcelona is so much worse in terms of noise and amount of crazy noisy motorbikes. There are parkings for motorbikes all over the city and at some of them there are like 50 motorbikes parked... delivery running pretty much 24h, people drinking on the streets at 2 am (this is what friends told me), and noise everywhere. Why the hell the Barcelona town hall does not make ELECTRIC and silent motorbikes mandatory as the Chinese do in their cities?

What the hell happened to Barcelona? This city was not this noisy 20 years ago (when I came to visit and did not live close by).
