Chit Chat and All That...

Look further up the thread... I have a 4-year old and a 1-year old.

I live with my muffs around my neck... but unavoidable spikes are inevitable!!
But how you do that? So uncomfortable. I tried to do it while gardening, because I can expect a barking hissy fit from my dog anytime, and wanted to avoid using plugs all the time, but switched back.

How do you manage the volume of children? I probably won't have any not entirely due to tinnitus, but my friends' have cute kids, I have godchildren and really want to be part of their lives, but seems really hard with reactive tinnitus. And I read somewhere that babies are capable of crying well over 100 dB.

I don't find it that uncomfortable to be honest. This might be because I have a pretty big and strong neck. Plugs take too long to put in, and anyway, I always end up losing them. Plus, I feel that plugs are a surefire way to get ear infections or impacted wax.

My kids make a hell of a noise, I'm sure I'm hit by 100+dB on a daily basis. It's pretty much impossible to predict when one will fall over and start crying, but that's why I have my muffs always at hand. I sometimes wonder if my tinnitus would have softened if I didn't have kids, but I will never know. I did think for a while about renting a different flat (apartment) to give myself space to be alone and away from the noise, but I want to see every second of my kids growing up.

It's my kids that keep me going. I helped bring them into this world, so I'm as sure as hell going to do everything to make their lives happy.

I'm not going to pretend that it's always fun and easy though.

Any news from @Jcb or @emmalee??

@aot are you still playing Dungeons and Dragons??
No news from either one of them. But that could be a good thing, you know? A lot of the time, when people comes to terms with this condition, they just leave the site without saying anything. I'm sure they're both okay. :)

And I'm not playing much DnD lately, no. :(. The comic book store we played is closed due to COVID-19. But we'll get back to it as soon as we can. (And I'm sure I'll still be just as bad at it, lol.)

lol... You guys should play online.

Staying positive.

Went buy our comic book store and they had nothing but boxes. I"m wondering if this was the last straw and they're out.

I keep wondering how playing online is vs in person.

I think I broke the counter.
I've just broken the 1000 mark.

I was going to ask you your take on WWII and what parts different nations played (especially in the European context), but I won't as this probably isn't the place.

Instead, can you explain the whole sonic toothbrush in the ear thing?

@Shera You say you saw Heroes in high school so I'd say we are! I was a sophomore when that first came out. I honestly wish our high school had a cool trading thing like that happening. I think trading video games was a thing, but I didn't have Playstation or Xbox at the time and that was the majority of the game trades. The trading VHS tapes thing though is something I'd actually expect to happen in a high school anime ;). Yooo, Inuyasha. I never finished it but I was really into that for a couple years when it first dropped.

Ah, at least the situation isn't too bad. Would be funny if you started a mob on here to kick his ass lol. Literally have people coming from all overt the world . Yeah the kid stuff usually has some kind of deep thing that the adults can pick up on even if the kids aren't.

I'm with you. Literally last week I decided to do a bit more socializing outside of my couple real life friends. It's surprising how quick you can actually find people online to chat with tbh.

Ah Borders. I had one not far away, and half the distance it is to a Barnes and Noble. Totally forgot Overstock was even a thing, and man, never knew Dollar Tree had books, lol. I can't remember the last time I was in one. One of my coworkers has a side business of selling books on ebay. I wonder if you would have ever bought a book of him, lol. He's been doing it for a few years now and says he has hundreds of listings up. He'll go to auctions or buy collections.

Edit: oof, your comic shop may be closed? We have one that just changed ownership last year. I don't really go but I did like it when I used to go there. Hope it holds up.

A sonic toothbrush has no place in the ear! ;)

Sorry, it's too embarrassing to talk about. That was One brief failure of judgement on my part in a long time, but it turned out to be a big one. It's important to think things through!!!

@Bob90 Yikes! I was never brave enough to let anyone barrow any of my video games. Ever. Yeah, I think that was the grade for me too . . . memory hazy. Not too many people were interested in the anime VHS trade accept my close friends. Oh, my! The dropped Inuyasha the Final act and I had been doing a rewatch in 2016 to finally finish up the anime, and I couldn't believe all the stuff I had forgotten. I forgot "Sit boy!" I got pretty good at figuring out what anime was a good intro for people. Depending on you it was I'd start them off with Samurai Champloo, Full Metal Alchemist, Fruits Basket, Black Lagoon, or Full Metal Panic.

 That would be something. Next time I have to threaten him I could be all "Rise my army!"

Too true. That's why I'm a pegasister!

Very true. I'm glad it worked well for you! I especially love my online book buddies!

Oh, man I miss book stores. There was a Waldens in every mall. So there was one 1 hr from me in state, and then 30 min over the border. I was so happy when Borders boughtt Waldens. Unsuspecting fool. We got a Borders in the same town as the 30min away Waldens so they got rid of the Waldens. I loved my 10% off and stackable coupons! If there be books I'll be finding them! Yeah, Dollar Tree is a great place. Dollar General is even better, but they're not always just $1. I really wish we had a Dollar General locally.

Probably not. I got burned one too many times with online used book shopping. Especially if you see that thriftstore sticker still on and it's in bad condition. Not to mention that inflated price. That's cool that he does that though! I had a rare find a while ago at thriftstore. A fairly old printing of Alice in Wonderland.

Yeah. We never really had a true comic book store anywhere near, and then boom they moved in 5 years ago. Even started branching out into other big cities. I hope they're just keeping things in boxes and not moving out.

@Shera have you seen Creepshow on AMC!?

I just watched the first episode and my god, it's the cheesiest, pulp nonsense I've seen in a long time.:LOL::eek:

It's amazing and I love it. It's utter trash and it embraces itself fully.

Ooooo. I've heard of it, but haven't tried it yet. I do love satire and pulp. One of the reasons I loved Scream Queens.

Anyone here interested in HBOMax? It comes out this month.

That's the reason why I want to get it to. There are also some other HBO shows I want to watch such as Westworld.
Heard good things about Westworld. The new Perry Mason also looks interesting, even if it's not at all like the original series from the looks of it.

And, of course... ALL. THE. STUDIO. GHIBLI. FILMS. (Or at least a bunch of them.)

Same. Really interested in Watchmen. I love the comic.
For this, but I'm not subscribing to another service. I'll catch it on DVD.

That's cool I would have thought those would be on Disney. But I own them all anyway.

I quit watching it after the first season.
Me too. I keep meaning to rewatch season 1 and watch the other seasons though.

I only have Netflix, so I can afford another service. I totally understand your position, though.

Yeah, I think Disney lost the rights or something.
