Chit Chat and All That...

THE DIRE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS CONDITION:

CNN reported today on Memorial Day:
"An Active Duty Service Member or Veteran dies by suicide almost once an hour,
officials say."
This totals 8,760 per year.
Given the colossal, continuous noise levels these service people have been exposed to,
to what degree was intrusive tinnitus a factor?
Intrusive Tinnitus is THE' factor !!
Hell on Earth.

I've been wearing a bog standard medical mask the last few days, and it's been killing my ears. What gives? I can wear a pair of heavy muffs all day long, no problem... yet... a lighweight mask that is held in place at the ears causes intense ear pain!!

I finally fixed my mask because the elastics were killing my ears.

What do you mean by fixed?

I was wearing a N95 equivalent mask with straps that went around the head. No problem. But as soon as something is attached to my ears all hell breaks loose... it's not even proper tight elastics, just some lightweight stuff.

Hey guys! Just been busy doing some gardening and outdoor projects.
My finger and hand still hurt... ughhh. But not as bad. It is just that I keep using it... lol. :wacky::inpain::LOL:

These days, I'm just watching Without a Trace. Just started from season 1 and now on chapter 13. Was also watching Tiny House Living... haha. Like I can fit all my crap in one of those. :cautious::eek::LOL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Glad the weather is finally nice! :)

How's everyone doing?

@OnceUponaTime , Glad to see you're staying busy, love Tiny House Living, super creative designs. Chapter 13 on Without a Trace, Wow, I didn't know that show ran that long. I think the longest series I've watched is Frasier and those are only 30 minute episodes. :)

@all to gain

I read your profile post. Did you do a dry fast or did you drink while not eating?
I drank water. I don't fancy the idea of a dry fast.

I will try it again on Sunday/Monday. If I get the same results I may alter my diet, but living without carbs would be difficult for me. That said, there was a marked difference in my tinnitus level, and the shrillness was much lower, so I may have to follow a low/no carb diet.

I already knew my tinnitus reacted to salicylates, but I had never tried eating no fruit or veg or carbs at all.

I just hope it wasn't a one off bit of luck...

It's funny how owls always appear to be angry when in fact it's just the feathers around the eyes that happen to make a funny angle. Lol.

:love::love::love::love:

Oh, that silkie!! I could cry. She looks like my beloved Belle that just passed. :bawling:

But I got two roosters and I'm gonna have silkie babies! As soon as the Ladies start laying again!

I found goosebumps silly. I read the Thriller and Fear Street. :rockingbanana:
I love Goosegumps because they were so silly! Horror is a damn fine genre of children's entertainment, you know? The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy, Gravity Falls, Scooby-Doo, etc. I think Goosebumps started my fondness for it.

I only read one Fear Street book, but I remember liking it. I think it was the one where two girls switched bodies?

Oh, yeah. I forgot about that one. My faves were the evil boyfriend/girlfriend themed ones, vampire (of course), and evil siblings!! :bookworm:Cat boiling man. *shivers* I use to own EVERY SINGLE ONE!:joyful: I decided to give them to my local library so that other kids could enjoy them. :)They promised they were putting them out. Shit heads gave them to a thrift store and I couldn't get them back without buying them again. I regret it so much. :arghh::mad:

So... do any of you have this person that you see all the time, but never interact with? Like they're at the bus stop or grocery store or something? And you recognize them?

Well, there's this one guy in my community. I don't know his name or anything. I just see him occasionlly when I'm out and about.

And he's wearing earmuffs. Everytime. He walks around with a big gulp from 711, wearing earmuffs. In environments with little sound. It's been years. Earmuffs every single time.

1. Could this guy have hyperacusis?

2. Would it be rude of me to ask?

1. Could this guy have hyperacusis?
He could I've wondered that a lot when I see other people in public putting in ear plugs or muffs.

2. Would it be rude of me to ask?
It could be and maybe not. If he seems friendly you could go for it.

We have someone like that in town and he wears his muffs to cut down on over stimulus. His mom says he's autistic and the muffs are the only thing that help him to go out in public. She explained it better.

So those roosters I got to make little chicks with my ladies have lice! People think I'm crazy for quarantining new birds for a month or longer. You need to know if they have health conditions, lice/mites, and give your current flock time to adjust.

You guys have no idea how much I hate lice. Never had lice in my flock until 2014 when the egg place started selling the chicken poop to the farmers for their fields. Evey year they do it and I have to go on high alert. So every Friday's is lice check. Cause once you've gone threw it you're scarred.

Any chicken care takers ever have lice issues? I'm always surprised how many people don't have ash and sand bathing pits for their flock.

Why didn't their owners inspect them before selling you the rooseters?

Most people don't really do lice checks and don't understand the importance of a bathing pit for chickens. Some lucky ones are either oblivious to lice or have never had it. Hell some people don't even pay attention to mites.

She didn't check, but I did. I didn't see any at the time, but silkies can be hard to comb through. Especially if they're just getting an infestation. I dusted them when I got home and only put them in the cage with the ladies for the night. Not anymore! They're gonna have to brave the wild critters with the safety of the run between them.

You can go from 1 lice to tons in the blink of an eye. If I hadn't been paranoid I wouldn't have caught it. I also noticed that these roosters are not familiar with bathing, probably because they didn't have an ash/sand pit. So I've been trying to teach them. Especially the silkie rooster, which is the one I really wanted. They have beards and poof feathers to deal with. (The smooth feathered rooster from hell is of course okay. *rolls eyes*)

I'm trying to get a hold of the women to warn her. Because my ladies are not infested. *knock on wood*

Good luck. It's good you grabbed it in time, before it became a disaster.

Hopefully once they're all healthy, you can get those baby chicks you want. :)

Yeah! I think it's the first laying. I searched that rooster from feet to beak. o_O I now know he has a mickey mouse mole. :ROFL:I let the olive oil sit on the eggs all day and tried to gently clean them off the feathers tonight. Sadly this rarely works for silkies. Ink, the silkie rooster, calmly let me pluck the feathers out. I got the most egg infested ones so that's something. Thankfully he likes to be petted so it was a combo of pluck-pluck-pluck and petty session. He was a trooper. Wait until I bath him on Friday. (If the weather holds.)

King, the smooth feathered rooster, apparently likes to be groomed. Not a single egg or lice on him. Still dusted him anyway since he is sharing close quarters with the lice carrier.

I'm being extra careful to not transfer the lice to my ladies. Cause they don't have any! :rockingbanana: I've only got four ladies left! :bawling:

I got a hold of the lady I got the rooster from to warn her. She thought one of her roosters in the "bachelor pad" had mites. I informed her it was lice and she better nip it in the butt now!! She professionally breeds and sells silkies and other birds so I thought she would have been all over that. She was really nice about it.

Now I'll quit boring you guys. ;)

Oh, I know!! I crocheted a few for myself because of the same problem.
