  • Walked to the pool, swim lessons, walked home, Liberty Burger, walked back to the pool, swam & made dinner, mom life in the summer!
My friend was telling me her son's school decided to surprise seniors with fireworks after graduation. I'm glad I was not there!
    Jebbis
Oh bother...glad I graduated a few years ago...I wouldn't do too well at a ceremony nowadays, especially a Texas style one!
How many times have you watched Raya? I've watched it 4 times in 3 days.
Tomorrow is the last day of school. Thankfully, I can tolerate sound better just in time for school to be out & be home with an active boy!
    Jebbis
Yay! I hope your tolerance to sound remains and continues to improve, and look at you, supermom, for being so ready to jump into it all. Inspiring!
    twa
Thank you! I try, I hope he remembers the fun times.
Raining cats and dogs. The thunder is loud...I wonder how many decibels it is?
    aot
For what it's worth, I've never heard of anyone getting a spike (atleast not a permanent one.) From Thunder.
So my husband's idea of honoring D-day is to make our 8 year old watch Band of Brothers. Ugh.
Block party celebrating graduations on the street behind us. It's so loud we are wearing earplugs and earmuffs in the house.
    Ken219
Maybe TinnitusTalk will get more members?
    twa
I know, 5 hours of blaring music. Happy it's been raining for the last hour and they had to bring the speakers in :-(.
    twa
@Ken219 I know it's mean, but I think to myself don't get angry you know it will catch up with them eventually.
I've heard people say it's like loud ringing when you leave a concert. Hmm...I've never experienced ringing after a concert.
    O
Same! Interesting how people get this after concerts & it goes away and for us we never had it, but now it's "permanent"
    ASilverLight
Same. Always had earplugs in as well, not a single sound at all. But a string of unfortunate accidents all within 2 weeks and I'm in a multi tonal reactive mess
    twa
I never wore earplugs at concerts. My thought was, if this was at a dangerous level they would tell us. :-D
Interesting...after 8 months of ringing and static, today sounds like cicadas. Previously, I had very faint cicadas for 3 years.
    Jebbis
I am also curious how you feel about this
    twa
@Diesel @Jebbis I was thinking it was good because my previous T was cicadas and I never gave it a second thought, it was so very low that it never bothered me or changed in any way. I was not on a T forum previously so I didn't know it could change.
    twa
@DieseI @Jebbis I think it would have stayed that way if I had not had an acoustic trauma. I was thinking it was a good change earlier today but it's kind of gone to an airplane engine sound, which I call static. I feel like I had lost some ground in April when I started getting vertigo, increased T and H.
Two online meetings this morning. It's nice to be able to control the volume on conversations and presentations.
When your hyperacusis improved significantly, did you think you'd lost hearing because your perception of sound was not as loud?
    twa
@Diesel thank you for the info. Setbacks are rough. It's good to know that there's a need to remain cautious. I'll keep carrying my Westones when I'm out and the foam ones for walking outside and when the kiddo is loud. I was hoping that once recovered everything would be ok, but nothing with the ears seem that easy. It's just nice to have a little reprieve from the last 7 months!
    twa
@Diesel what types of sounds caused your setbacks with hyperacusis?
    M
When I first got T and no H my hearing was okay and when i developped hyperacusis few weeks later i had some hearing loss
Hi @twa I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry to read about your increase in symptoms after getting the vaccine. How frustrating to have come all this way only to get a setback! I really hope you feel better soon.
    twa
Thank you Marin. I appreciate your kind words. I'm working on feeling better. Hope you are doing well. :)
    Marin
I'm on a tiny upswing so I hope it's a trend and not just a fluctuation. Time will tell. Thank you!

I know you had worked so hard to get the improvements of made, and I'm sure you can get back there. You'll be in my thoughts!
    twa
Thank you Marin, so nice of you to think of me. I'm so very happy to hear you are doing better!
Went to see my dad today. He had such a hard time hearing me. I tried to speak clearly, face him and enunciate.
    twa
@Sayeed how are you? Haven't seen you on the forum in a while. Hope you are doing ok. T~
    Sayeed
Sorry I've been away. I've been dealing with some other issues. But I plan been active on here again. I miss the community

Rain for the next four days. Great...
    TheDanishGirl
@Steph1710 - Same here in Denmark. Its unbelivably cold for the season. And normally we get about 250ish sun hours in may, but so far I think its ranging in the 40s something.
    Kriszti
Same here, 12 C. I'm not complaining, because I'm not very fond of the heat, but the ran might just stop now, it's been raining cats and dogs for 2 weeks with some occasional sunshine. But on the plus side, I saw a pretty rainbow.
    twa
We had 10 days of rain before this latest streak of 4 days. I've been at home with dizziness also. The lack of sunshine added to my frustration and sadness about my vestibular issues.
It's remote learning day, had fun teaching the kiddo. On breaks he designed "a man cave" in Minecraft and I played "Don't Stop Believing"!
I'm so sorry about your dizziness from the vaccine. Do you think you had a pre- disposition to the vertigo or just bad luck? Your dad sounds wonderful!!
    twa
Thank you. No, I've never had dizziness or vertigo in my life. I've even been on two cruises in the last three years with rocky waters and no dizziness at all. I'm on another forum, with a slew of people who have also had vertigo and dizziness after the vaccine. He is a wonderful person, I pray that I can spend more time with him.
Twa, the roadnoise where I live is God awful. I'd love to know if you see much difference in the noise in your house with your new windows.. we have double pane but they must be paper thin, plus the vehicles around here are extremely loud!!! I'm a prisoner in this house and desperately wish I could move. I can't even be in the backyard at all, even with my huge earmuffs, the sound rumbles through my brain.
    twa
I do think the triple pane windows help. I need to have two more replaced in the same room. I haven't noticed hearing trucks while sleeping.
You may have hyperacusis if you get excited about new triple pane windows!
    twa
The triple pane windows were only supposed to add an additional 20% reduction in sound. I think the reduction has been much higher. In the areas of my house that have double pane windows I can hear trucks with loud mufflers and the bass from car radios passing by much more clearly.
    G
Nice. I hope to get some new windows this summer as well.
Of all the things I miss, going to the movies with my son is the activity I miss the most.
    twa
@Robster I know what you mean. I can't see taking the risk.

@kuromi thanks so much! So glad to hear you are having quieter days! Great news!
    Sayeed
even with high quality noise cancelling head phones would it still be a risk? also i heard during covid you could rent out a whole small theater for like $100.
    Tezcatlipoca
You will go back again with them, don't lose hope
Fireman/paramedic came to the house to install a window. He's the 1st I've told that I have had an acoustic trauma who lowered their voice.
    Jebbis
Thats so nice. I wonder if he maybe has had colleagues go through acoustic trauma in the past; i can only imagine the sounds they have to deal with on the daily!
    Tweedleman
He's probably heard a few sirens in his time :p
    twa
It was nice and compassionate. I've told my family and extended family about hyperacusis. They continue to slam car doors, talk loudly near my ears, throw dishes in the sink and slam the refrigerator door. I remind them and the response is, well it wasn't on purpose.
I'm mostly ok, but every now and then the realties of this condition just hit me and I want to cry.
    twa
@Jebbis thanks so much. I pray I start having more good days too. This is hard.

@Steph1710 thank you. That would be nice. We could talk in a normal, but quiet voice and eat a low salt anti-inflammatory lunch. I appreciate all the love :-). How's the dizziness?
    Eleanor89
    I cry too x
    Eleanor89
I too find it hard and it's only four months x
It's so slow, my ears are sensitive today,,, up and down are yours like this
Binge worthy series on Netflix! Designated Survivor is interesting about a low level legislator who is 11th in line to the presidency.
Today was the first day since March 2020 that Texas has reported zero Covid deaths! Thank you God!
Rain in the forecast for 10 days! The weather changes are doing a number on my head and ear pressure, got to love May in Texas!‍
    Steph1710
It is like that where I am in the UK. The air pressure feels very low, and it's raining a lot - my head hates it. >_<
    twa
@Steph1710 we used to laugh when we were in the UK and we would watch the weather report and it was the same every day with rain. We jokingly said why do they have a weatherman? :-D
