Ok, so only assumptions :/ Should you add ?-mark to the thread topic?
Well, it works in the same way keppra does but is 10x more potent. It functions the same.

Np then, if you are sure that it is kv3.1 modulator. Im not qualified to conclude anything to a way or to another.Well, it works in the same way keppra does but is 10x more potent. It functions the same.

Well, we will know when it comes out...Which is hopefully soon. We need a KV3.1 drug as soon as possible.
Even if Brivarectam doesn't work on Kv3.1 channels there is always Autifony and I'm pretty sure that more Kv3.1 modulators are comming. If not for tinnitus then for epilepsy. It's just a matter of time now...
Well, keppra works on the KV3.1 channels so I would guess this is too. I mean, they basically work in the same way, just that this is more potent.
I hope so. But when listing something as "more potent" doesn't necessarly mean it works the same way. The result in terms of siezures in epilepsy patients mightbe so that you need less Brivarectam then Keppra but they don't have to have the same mechanism of action.
no plans in regards to Tinnitus ... the tinnitus aspect is just something that emerged here on the forums.Hey dannyboy
I was just reading about this new drug online and that it's gone for approval since January so could be out soon everything going well.
I couldn't find anything online about them testing it for tinnitus just for epilepsy. Is it being marketed as an epilepsy drug with potential to treat tinnitus or whats their plans do you know?
Thanks
Great news ! .. this will be out in a few months i guess now it has been approved ... good newsIt seems that this Bivaracetam will be sold under a product named "Briviact".
I guess what's left is the Marketing Authorization itself (for UE availability).
Not so much happened since January though
"On 19 November 2015, the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) adopted a positive opinion, recommending the granting of a marketing authorisation for the medicinal product Briviact, intended for the treatment of partial-onset seizures. The applicant for this medicinal product is UCB Pharma SA."

Spain it is.
anyone have an idea if Portugal is also a place to buy these meds without prescription. i`ll be in portugal in a few weeks ...Spain it is.
So is it worth trying Trobalt first or waiting for this?
This is not a drug intended for tinnitus. This one is close to Keppra which didn't helped Tinnitus sufferers but helped hyperacusis.Interesting thread. I don't know much about the different drugs that are available for tinnitus.
We have no way of knowing, because uncontrolled anecdotal stories from the internet are not usable data.Didn't it actually helped some people over there ? https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/levetiracetam-keppra-worked-for-my-hyperacusis.8946/
I had H for well over a year, and after two rounds of Keppra, it's gone (increased dosage in rnd 2). Coincidence? Perhaps? However, I noticed the difference pretty quickly after starting it, and it hasn't returned since getting off it, so I'm satisfied it worked. Call it anecdotal, but I no longer have H, and it's awesome.
I will add that I don't know if Keppra is the answer for all. For example, aspirin and ibuprofen don't help me if I have a headache (only Excedrin works), but for millions of people they do.
This is basically a more potent version of keppra, 10 times more potent. It works on the KV3.1 potassium channels, so is the same target as Autifony's new drug but is in phase 3 and been tested for 8 years already, so should be out sooner and could potentially help with tinnitus.
"Sudies conducted by Prof Len Kaczmarek's group at Yale University suggest that Autifony's Kv3 modulators may help to restore the timing of firing of neurons in the auditory brainstem important for central auditory processing."

Years, probably.Any one have a clue how long it would take to access the drug in spain?
I have a bias against snake oil and fake science. The second someone comes up with a real drug treatment, I'll try it and probably buy stock in the company.@linearb do you have a bias against a pharmaceutical solution to tinnitus?
It seems like you are strongly against any of the drugs being put forward.
